Is a routine throw to 1st tough? There is so much that can go wrong on the throw to 2B. There's pretty much nothing to go wrong on a routine throw to first

No it's not. 2B could be playing deep. Runner could have gotten a great jump. 2B has to catch and find bag. Etc.
