as much as I like to see the underdog nationals winning and taking control of this series I would like to see the cards win a few games to make it interesting

I think the sweep is coming.
It was a good season though. They went further than I expected.

I think the Cardinals get to Corbin. Ultimately come up short in the series but knock him around

Crazy to think the Nats were 19-31 at one point. They've been playing incredible baseball the last 4-5 months.

Yeah. Pretty similar story to the Blues in hockey last year.

What's really crazy, though, is this team not winning anything with Harper.

Not like they couldn't have used him either. Eaton's a right fielder with a 101 OPS+ and Robles only had an 88 OPS+ (though he looks like a really good defensive CF). Nats offense did score 102 more runs than last year, but offense is also way up from last year in general.

I'd say Corbin and Sanchez were more than worth that tradeoff though, last year's rotation outside of Scherzer and Strasburg was a mess (and Stras only threw 130 innings). Corbin finished in the top 10 in the NL in ERA+ and innings pitched. Anibal Sanchez also turned out to be a huge pickup (119 ERA+ over 166 innings not to mention he's provided two very good starts). Strasburg has been healthy and had a great year, not to mention Scherzer was his dominant self though he missed some time. Stras/Scherzer/Corbin all finished in the top 10 in the NL in WAR and ERA+. Amazing rotation.

Interesting and unsurprising stat - all 12 of Strasberg's strikeouts were on off-speed pitches. (4 curves, 8 change ups)

Cardinals really need a new hitting coach or something.

Funny thing about Harper is after following him this season he seems like a decent guy and really didn't cause any drama or anything but for some reason I feel like if he was still on the Nationals right now he would annoy me. Just one of those guys

The Nationals had the better record in the regular season. The Nats are not the underdog in this series.

Worst NLCS ever? It has to be in the bottom 10.
