-First NLCS appearance for Washington.

-Rematch of a very intense 2012 NLDS where the Cardinals won Game 5 with a huge late inning comeback. Adam Wainwright was actually the pitcher in that Game 5 and Washington was all over him early.

-Stausburg didn't play in that NLDS. He is ready for this series but like Flaherty might be saved until Game 3.

-Cardinals have home field which means that we'll likely see Mikolas in Game 1 and Wainwright in game 2 because their home splits. Sanchez has been named the starter for Game 1 so I'd expect Scherzer in Game 2 although the Cardinals have played well against him this year.

-Max Scherzer is fairly popular in Missouri as he is (as far as I know) the only really good Mizzou baseball player.

-These two teams played a month ago as they were both trying to make the playoffs so they were meaningful games. I don't see either team getting surprised by anything here.

-Nationals playing from the Wild Card and beating the Dodgers late actually sounds more like the Cardinals than the team out of St Louis.

Just awful...why can't both teams be contracted?

Would you really want to see a team that allows 10 runs in first inning to play in the World Series against the Astros or Yankees?

If you're referring to the Braves, the answer is always "no way in hell." Keep them fockers as far away as possible.

But when the alternatives are in-division rivals like the Nats or historic super-villains like the Pond-Scum Cards, then it makes this a less watchable series

I think the Cardinals will gladly take the villain role at this point but the Yankees are looming to take that away.

Most casual fans should be rooting for the Nationals at this point, tbh.

The Cards are an NL version of the yanks! That's probably the matchup we'll get, though.

Of all the teams left, I'd be less disgusted if Washington won it all. Hopefully they face Houston.

Ian Kinsler also went to Mizzou.

I’m not gonna be able to stomach this series. I still haven’t recovered from Game4. Best of luck to both teams

Could still be a 0-0 game if the Cards just chose to face the pitcher

75 pitches for Sanchez. Would they let him try for a no-hitter?

I feel like the first hit against Sanchez will be out of the park.
