NL Wildcard Race

That would be tough. Especially after the bottom of the 9th last night.
My crystal ball is telling me that the last series of the regular season against the Cubs is going to decide if we get a wildcard spot. The Cubs will have the opportunity to knock us out of the playoffs.

Myles, I hear you concerning our last series with the Cubs. I just hope we are still in a position to get into the playoffs when this series takes place.

I don't understand why our bullpen has to put so much drama into almost every game we play that are close games and I don't understand Norris or Hicks at all. Norris has killed us lately trying to close games and Hicks throws almost every pitch at 100MPH+ with terrible control but he gets hit hard when he does find the strike zone. Maybe Martinez should be our permanent closer the rest of the way . . . what do you think?

The Reds also stopped the Cardinals series win streak that they had going. The 4 game series starting tomorrow against the Dodgers is huge for the Cards and the Dodgers.

Myles, My bad . . . I made my last post to you right after the Cardinals lost this afternoon in a game they had a great chance to win in the bottom of the 9th before I checked the up-to-date standings. We continue to lead the Dodgers by 2 games, not 1 game, for the 2nd wildcard but we still need to at least split this 4 game series with the Dodgers starting on Thursday night. Game 1 won't be easy since Kershaw is a -192 favorite against Gomber but we have beaten Kershaw in the past and particularly in the playoffs. I agree with you about TV because I don't get many televised Candinal's games either.

You are so right and being a NL fan I can't remember when all 3 divisions were this close this late in the season. Well, I take that back since the NL East is not that close anymore.

Chew, I know you are happy that your recent prediction that the Braves will finish 3rd in The NL East will be wrong and personally I think the Braves have the pieces to hang around in the playoffs for awhile.

16 games left and yes they're hot now but LA is no joke either. And given Colorado just lost 2/3 to LA last week and LA has an easier schedule to finish the year talk to me in 10 games and let's see where things are. This same Rockies team who took 3/4 from Arizona also just split a 4 game series with SD a few weeks ago and they lucky to even do that they almost lost 3/4, doesn't exactly scream threat.
