he's regressed, but I don't think there's that much to be concerned about. 4.50 ERA from May 26-July 6 (not including tonight), but a 3.84 FIP and 3.41 xFIP. if anything, I'd say he's been a bit unlucky with home runs especially given his ground ball tendencies. he's not a big strikeout pitcher, but he doesn't walk a lot of batters. He still has a 3.05 FIP and 3.04 xFIP on the season. his velocity has been down a bit in his last few starts, but his velocity is also down from 22/23

Ranger Suarez has really started to regress to the mean. There’s a couple of factors that have him off.
1. Contract negotiations. Something is going on. Sanchez is already resigned and word was that Ranger was next and we’ve heard nothing since. Could be weighing on him.
2. For the first time his wife and kids could come from the Dominican Republic to see him play. They came on June 19th. Dude hasn’t been the same since.

3. He was down innings last year because of injury. He could be experiencing fatigue.
4. Took a ball off his hand vs St Louis and may have some issues in being able to disguise his pitches.

Who knows what it is or a combination of what.

He's still a very quality pitcher, but he was definitely pitching way over his head for most of the year.

He will balance out post ASB I think and get back to being really good but not Cy young worthy imo.

Morton pitching a good game today for the Braves, but our hitting hasn’t done anything. It’s really bizarre how the pitching has carried us this year, every hitter except for Ozuna has been disappointing. I really hope our lineup wakes up soon, we won’t be going on a playoff run this year with this kind of hitting.

Matt Olson is fucking terrible right now. Just horrendously bad and he hasn’t had a clutch hit in ages. I’m afraid the Braves won’t be able to win it all unless he heats up. Snitker needs to pull him out of the cleanup spot right now, because he’s in a huge slump.

Is it the 10 day IL or is it the 60 day? What seems to be the issue? I hope he didn’t tweak something during the All Star game.

It’s the 15 day IL, left forearm neuritis is what they are saying. He felt minor discomfort before the ASG but decided to pitch in it anyway, big mistake it seems. Braves are hopeful he won’t be out too long but it’s another blow to us.

Pitchers pain in the forearm is rarely an injury in the forearm unless they took contact from a hard hit ball there or something. It’s likely elbow shit where the pain is manifesting in the forearm. That sucks man. Hope it isn’t as bad as it seems.

Olson is fucking killing us right now. Hits into a double play that ends the inning there. He’s basically useless offensively now - his average is down to 223.

We'll see about the power, but I really like Alvarez's contact skills and walk rate.
Yeah that guy looks like a good hitter. More importantly, great name. But I think you're right about the power. You don't always see what kind of power you're going to get with an infielder until they are 23-24 years old. (Unless they are bigger than normal, like A Rod or these freakishly large shortstops you see now like Cruz or De La Cruz)

Harper greeted in Minnesota with the “over rated” chants. Proceeds to demolish a 2 run HR. Telecast said it was his hardest hit ball of the season.
