that trade to get the former Mets 2nd baseman was a good move. Philly has been quietly going about their business. this division could be theirs to win.

And Realmuto did not get moved. I wonder if serious talks were had with PHI or ATL.

Let's just hope the nats or braves don't win this division because we all know what they will do in the playoffs. The phillies and mets have better track records and can make a run with the likes of the dodgers, dbacks, and cubs.

I like that you think this matters, especially when the majority of those Phillies that were on the 07-11 teams are no longer on the roster and the Mets are 14.5 games out of a WC position.

Literally the only 2 people on this Braves team that were on the last Braves Playoff team are Freddie Freeman and Julio Teheran. We've completely tore the Franchise down and rebuilt.

Oh yeah, and the D-Backs have been to the playoffs twice in the last ten seasons and didn't make it past the NLDS either of those years.

History is very strong in MLB.

History is very strong in MLB.

Is that why I've witnessed a team win a World Series for the first time in my lifetime in each of the past 3 seasons?

Royals won in 85, most people here remember it, I was born 6 years after it happened.
The Cubs broke a 108 year WS drought
The Astros won a WS for the first time in franchise history, and they've been around for over 50 years.

WHichever team wins the NL East is likely going to be a first round exit as is. Phillies and Braves are nice upstarts, but they're both a couple pieces away from being WS contenders, and the Nats aren't the same team they were before. They really don't have anyone other than Scherzer in the rotation, and they gave away two decent relievers when they weren't exactly deep in the pen to begin with.

With the Bour trade, the Phillies now have 4 of the top 10 in the NL in walks (Santana, Hernandez, Bour and Hoskins). Hard to believe it was only a few years ago that they had a GM who was oblivious to the value of walks.
