I think Big Jon will be retiring since he is just about worn out. After a slow start with the Cardinals since coming over he has been decent.

He's had a decent run to get to #200, but I don't think its very sustainable in the long term (pedestrian K/BB, FIP/xFIP/xERA are all higher than his ERA). I think he's pretty toasty

Big Jon Lester even looks tired in his press conferences. I'll be surprised if he doesn't retire at the end of the season.

I'll admit that I was wrong about this team needing to be 'sellers'

This has been a very interesting month, thats for sure

I hope our great run will not be for just for a 163rd game. I hope we will have more gas left in the tank than that.

Hey man, we have all been wrong with our predictions but I've got to ask you if you still don't think we are as good as our record? We will never know the answer to this but I wonder what our record would be if we had not had more injuries than any team in baseball. It's much more fun when September baseball matters.

Its tough to say. If you look at things like Quality Wins, Luck, Strength of Schedule, etc then they are the type of team that gets swept out of the playoffs.

Their pitching right now is so much better than something that can be measured with season long analytics, though. I think this is one of the Cardinals teams that will beat the other team as long as they dont run into a legendary performance (Ortiz in the WS, for example. Bumgarner would be another example)

Honestly, if we are fortunate enough to get that 2nd wildcard I don't look for us to go anywhere in the playoffs because we are using up all of our fuel just to get to the finish line.

IMO our biggest problem this season has been with our multiple number of pitchers who gave up way too many walks. IMO we would have had more wins at this point in the season with just the normal amount of injuries but we broke the injury record big time. Just look at how many starts Flaherty has missed this season which would have been a high percentage of wins as just one example. The only every day player we have had is Edman with some of our players missing considerable time due to injuries. We've also had some key pitchers (KK) on the shelf this season for extended periods of time not to mention some key pitchers (DH) who we were counting on who did not even play.

To get that 2nd wildcard our magic number is 8.

Let's end this thing ASAP so our players can get some rest, especially Yadi, before we play at least game 163.

Regardless of what happens in the playoffs, this kind of hot streak is a lot of fun.

The Streak.....at #11.....

I haven't heard about Arenado's status, hope nothing serious.

Hope STL can set it up that Waino can start the play-in game, if they make it there. Him vs Scherzer would kind of be like Carpenter vs Halliday back in the day.

Keep it rolling, boys.

Might be a good thing that the Brewers are going though this lull now. Give them time to right the ship b/4 the start of the post season. My biggest concern if I was a fan is getting Yelich back on track, that dude is a beast when right.

More tests on Arenado's back are scheduled for today and let's hope nothing is seriously wrong.

Scherzer would be hard to beat in a play-in game because lately he is giving up no runs at all. I'm sure we will find a way to give Waino the necessary rest to face him in a win or go home game.
