More tests on Arenado's back are scheduled for today and let's hope nothing is seriously wrong.

Scherzer would be hard to beat in a play-in game because lately he is giving up no runs at all. I'm sure we will find a way to give Waino the necessary rest to face him in a win or go home game.
Arenado is back in the line-up today. Early game today on Youtube.

What in the living hell????????????

Many teams have their division won long before the season ends and when this happens in many cases they get lazy, complacent, quit paying attention to detail, lose interest, lose the competitive spirit, etc. and then they have to crank up the engine again at playoff time. Sometimes this works for them and sometimes it doesn't. It's called peaking at the right time which is when the playoffs begin. I hope the Cardinals are not peaking too soon as well.

ONE DOZEN.....

One bright spot for the Brewers going forward, Hader will be well rested...:D

Another SWEEP . . . . . Man, I'm going to wear this broom out and I just bought it last month.

We not only didn't have to see Hader . . . . . The Beer Markers were not allowed to clinch on our watch.

Until now, the Cardinals have not won 12 in a row since 1982. Man that's almost 40 yeas ago.

Baker's Dozen....wasn't really pleased that they had to use Gallegos in this game but you gotta do what ya gotta do. Hope Sosa isn't hurt too bad, it looked pretty bad, tho. DeJong will have to step up.

Who would have thought 15 games over .500 was even a good dream a little over a month ago? We're there at the moment.

It's time for DeJong to shine or become trade bait. I don't think Gallegos will have any problem getting 3 more outs for us tonight if needed.

I keep having to remind myself than Dejong kinda stinks. He came on so strong and he still has power but I am definitely not that confident of him being in the lineup

I don't know what happened to Paulie. Last year he was the only Cardinals player who went to the all star game and this year he can't hit his weight. Granted, he has had to deal with injuries this year but even when he has played for lengthy periods of time he has not come out of his long slump. In my opinion a healthy Sosa is a much better shortstop in our lineup now than DeJong.

Sosa is definitely better but that might be moot right now. I've just seen Dejong hit big HRs and even in person win games so I want to think that he still has it but he really doesn't. I think in his postseason career he strikes out in almost half of his ABs.

Hopefully he finds his mojo although maybe there is no fracture with Sosa so maybe thats good news

DeJong really outperformed some of his statcast metrics in his rookie season.

2017: .255 xBA (his actual BA was .285), .466 xSLG (.532 actual SLG), .322 xwOBA (.359 actual wOBA)
2018: .231 xBA (.241 actual BA), .439 xSLG (.433 actual SLG), .321 xwOBA (.321 actual wOBA)
2019: .231 xBA (.233 actual BA), .437 xSLG (.444 actual SLG), .324 xwOBA (.322 actual wOBA)
2020: .238 xBA (.250 actual BA), .406 xSLG (.349 actual SLG), .315 xwOBA (.296 actual wOBA)
2021: .206 xBA (.196 actual BA), .393 xSLG (.382 actual SLG), .306 xwOBA (.293 actual wOBA)

He's still a useful part, but his rookie season is looking like an outlier.

I read on another Cardinal site that there is nothing broken on Sosa's hand. Out probably 3-5 days. Whew!

I have been a big time DeJong fan since he has been with us and you're right, he has hit some big time home runs at key times for us over the years. He likes to swing early in the pitch count but he is also swinging at many pitches out of the zone this year. I do hope he will figure it out soon for the good of our team.

14, Ken Boyer's #.....

Hudson looked really good, Flaherty not so much. Hudson went on rehab assignments and Flaherty did not.

Three players with 30+ homers, even PDJ got in on the fun.

Let's go for #15 and I'll bet you know whose number that was too.

I'm very concerned about Flaherty!

Yes, we have 3 players with 30+ homers each but we don't have even 1 player hitting .300 although Goldy is up to .296. I would love to see Goldy finish at .300+ but I doubt that will happen.

AMEN to 15 wins in a row and 17 games over .500!

When Harrison Bader goes 4 for 4 you know luck is on your side. Yes, that was a wild double play.

Waino said today, "I've been on a lot of different Cardinals teams but this Cardinals team has two things better than any team I've been on which is speed and defense."
