I'm not sure. I haven't seen many Bills games over the last few years.

My initial thoughts is that it seems like more of the same, but he's CERTAINLY an upgrade over the team's WR depth last year.

Still hope they draft Moncrief.
Pretty much this. SJ is still a pretty good player and adds much needed depth but I still believe they need to try to get Moncrief so they have guy in the probable scenario in which Crabtree walks. Also Boldin aint getting younger.

Ian Rapoport:

Stevie Johnson’s contract will remain the same with #49ers. #Bills just paid $1.75M in a roster bonus, so Niners owe him just $3.6M in ‘14

not a bad deal. He is way better then any 4th rd pick we would of landed. Last player we got from the Bills turned into a Pro bowler.

So this means Baldwin and Osgood won't be making the team now

He's kind of a poor man's desean Jackson. Enough less to not be a number one guy, but he'll make plays and command at least some respect from defenses.

No, Johnson is slow and Jackson is lightening fast. I'd compare Johnson more to Victor Cruz.

Lee isn't good. SJ over Lee in a heartbeat. Easy pick. USC QBs and WR are just not that good in the NFL.

Unfortunately we are going to find out here real quick.

He plays fast. He doesn't have desean speed, but he plays fast and will get behind a defense if you let him.

I like the move.....Kaep has some toys now. Imagine a set with Crabs, Boldin, Johnson, and Vernon. Wow.

I think it's hard for Lloyd to make the team now and Baldwin better get his resume polished up. Osgood has the special teams angle but he may be toast as well.

Yeah, that's my primary issue with it. Where's the deep threat? Where's the speed. We've got three very good receivers at present, but they're all basically short-to-mid guys.

He's certainly an upgrade over Patton. He also provides depth if someone gets hurt. My fear is that it won't do any good to have him because kaepernick cannot get past his first read and is afraid to work the middle of the field where Johnson lives.

Depth wise it helps a lot.

Last year when Crabtree got hurt we were screwed.

Johnson has excelled 0-9 yards off the line of scrimmage over the middle of the field near the hashes if you want to get specific. Kaepernick had his best QB rating and QBR when throwing 0-9 yards beyond the line across the middle. His 2nd best rated area of the field? 10-19 yards beyond the line of scrimmage........in the middle of the field. His 3rd best area is along the hashes down the right intermediate side.

Well it looks like the WR corps for 2014 is set. They might go for a project like Jeff Janis in the late rounds, but I don't think there's a receiver left in the draft who'll play a single snap for the Niners this season.

I want DBs and maybe a pass rusher. I'm not crapping my pants like some. Seems like a very pragmatic draft so far.

I'm betting we take 3 more players max and parlay the rest of the picks into 2015.

Didn't we basically get Johnson for free from a pick perspective? Or am I reading posts wrong?
