Foles asked to be released so the Rams didn't release on there own. They just granted his wish to be released.

...and he took a paycut to get released. Haven't seen the numbers yet though.

I'm guessing the type of QB the Chiefs want is a Paxton Lynch or a Carson Wentz kind of high end prospect they can stash away for a bit and develop for the next 2-3 years while Alex Smith and Murray do the game manager impressions.

Hogan is a decent prospect IMO.

Hogan is a decent prospect IMO.

He is. If his arm strength and footwork gets consistent then he could be an NFL starter. Without consistent velocity though his ceiling is Matt Cassel.

kinda shocked Dallas isn't making a strong play for Foles.
Hard to think the staff is as high on Kellen Moore as they must be. Shoot, I liked Moore but not enough to hand the b/u job to him without true competition in camp & PS.

Mike Garfolo of NFL Media reports that the Chiefs have signed QB Nick Foles to a contract.

This comes just hours after Adam Schefter reported that the Chiefs had emerged as a “sleeper team” that is now vying to sign Foles.



Foles, 27, is a former third-round pick of the Eagles back in 2012. After three years in Philadelphia, Foles was sent to the Rams in a trade from the Eagles that shipped Sam Bradford to Philadelphia. He had one year remaining on his rookie contract when the Rams signed him to a two-year, $24 million extension back in August of last year.

In 2015, Foles completed 56.4 percent of his passes for 2,052 yards, seven touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 36 quarterback out of 37 qualifying players.

Doesn't it depend on how much the Chiefs pay him, I thought any team who signed him would do it on the cheap since the rams had do much guaranteed tied up on him, of did this pass after he cleared waivers? I'd definitely give Murray a look if he's released.

It does, but the Chiefs only have 1M~ in cap room.

I was under the impression teams could sign him for the 1M salary he lost when cut. I've gotten a lot better understanding the NFL Cap over the years but it's still a mystery.

He went to Arizona but is from the Austin area. Played in the same high school as Drew Brees.

Interesting move by the Chiefs. Must not like what they are seeing in the other QB's or I guess you do have the Andy Reid connection since he did draft him if I remember right. Still with pretty much no cap space I'm just shocked that they decided to do this move. Going to be some interesting cuts coming from the Chiefs and some of it might be cap related more so than play on the field.
