NHL 12 Demo tomorrow!!!

Things I am anticipating:

AI anticipating possession changes - nothing says all out attack like the center and wings all camped behind the circles while the defenseman gets the dump-in unopposed.

Live goalies. I am going to BAP Hartnell and basically win the game. That is his description - other folks get Sniper, or Tough Guy, or 2-way. Hartnell gets Goalie Runner.

Improved commentating AI. I have played as a Dman for Columbus for a season. The Jackets were 2nd in the NHL to Detroit 60 games into the season, and yet when I lost a game to some team they used the line about "a bad team beating another bad team." Guys. We're 15 points over the last team to make the playoffs, maybe you should give us some credit.

Hopefully improved in-game AI. NHL 11 aggressive faceoff logic in the defensive zone? Hmmm, let's make a pre-faceoff formation with nobody behind the center. Now let's make sure that the center pushes it directly behind him every. fucking. time. Not to mention the computer AI's exactly one move on entering the zone with the puck wide. Deke to center and lose the puck. That's it. That's all they ever do, unless they are on a breakaway, which they won't be because that would require them to get to center ice before the puck makes it to the offensive zone. Still, it beats their move when entering the zone without the puck, which is skate in front of you and get pushed offside. Basically BAP in NHL 11 is you vs. the other team with your teammates aiding whatever side they most feel like. That's why you have an ATOI of 50 minutes. Because the alternative is like watching a synchronized swimming team composed entirely of people who cannot swim.

NHL 12 will be improved I hope, but I'm not buying it the day it comes out. Give them a few months to tweak the AI so it stops running into walls in certain situations and come up with a patch for the inevitable "AI goalies can't stop backhands flipped in from center ice" bullshit that online people are GUARANTEED to find, and I'll be all over it. Until then, well, my BAP from NHL 11 hasn't hit the requisite 300 games to unlock Amateur 3 in NHL 12, so there you go.
