A federal appeals court has granted a request by the NFL and NFL Players Association to expedite a hearing on the league's appeal of a lower court ruling that struck down the suspension of New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady.

Indianapolis Colts in January 2015. Brady appealed his suspension, and it was upheld July 28 by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell. Brady then appealed the suspension in federal court.

On Sept. 3, U.S. District Court Judge Richard M. Berman overturned the suspension.

The NFL appealed Berman's decision to the U.S. Court of Appeals.

Brady has started the Patriots' first three games, and the team is 3-0.

Till after the SB. No ruling will take place at the hearing and will likely come several weeks later.

The two likely possible rulings are,

1. Appeal denied. End of case.

2. Ruling remanding it back to Judge Berman for further ruling on the other items.

Likely 1. and not 2.

Even if 2., not good for the NFL since the way the ruling was written, Judge Berman set it up to hang them on the other items if it's kicked back. Held them in reserve if you will.

February 6, 2016.....Federal Appeals Court will hear the NFL's opening Appeal argument. The NFLPA and Tom Brady then have 10 days to notify the court that they will argue the NFL's argument.

February 16, 2016....Federal Appeals Court will hear the NFLPA's argument
February 17, 2016....Federal Appeals Court will hear Tom Brady's argument.

Sometime between March 1, 2016 and July 1, 2016 the Federal Appeals Court will notify Judge Richard Berman that he was correct in his ruling or incorrect. If he's correct, Brady wins again. If he's incorrect, they will tell him why. He will then decide to rehear the case or defer it to a full court. It took 7 months before, let's say it takes 4 this time........that puts it back before the bench probably around January 2017. No judge will hear anything during the holidays.
