Day to Day
Hi Guys.....see the carousel is turning for the Broncs too. At least you Lock. Would you rather have Cam Newton?I personally like the idea of signing a vet like Fitzpatrick or Dalton over drafting a QB, unless we are moving on from Lock. Of the QBs in this draft I like Wilson the best of those likely going in the first round.
I actually like the idea of trying to trade back from 9 to accumulate additional picks (preferably at least 1 in 2022 to have additional ammo to move up for a QB if we are looking for a QB in 2022 draft) and drafting a guy like Jaycee Horn. One thing that Paton has talked about is building the war chest to have versatility in the draft, so I think this might actually fairly likely if we do not trade 9 for Watson. With Parson's character concerns he might fall to later in the draft too. Remember the last LB we took that slipped in the draft due to concerns? Shane Ray was ok, but not what we had hopped. He has now moved on to the Canadian Football League.
If we pass on a QB in the draft this year, I have heard some really like Sam Howell.
Nearly 3000 miles east, we're beating the hell out of the QB piks on a daily basis. Everyone has an opinion as to what he thinks is best and 90% us will be pissed as hell on April23that our guy was passed.
I saw Howell play three times this year and he's got the tools and in my opinion, the head to go with them. Problem is that he's going back to NC to finish his degree and and play football next fall.
QB availability is going to depend on what happens first with the Jets. If they want to pick up Wilson, they can't have Darnold on their roster or they won't get squat for him after the draft.
Let's assume the worst case:
Jags - Lawrence
Jets - Wilson
Falcons - Trask/Fields
Panthers - Fields Trask
Is it worth the cost to trade up to and take a chance that Trask/Lance/Fields is another Lock or Tebot or Ryan Leaf? At #9 There are some really good kids who have totally ignored like Kellen Miond, Ehlinger, Mac Jones, Jaimie Newman, Costello. The biggest problem for us, is that the TV and radio heads keep putting the same names forward because they're too lazy to do the homework.
My Patriots are picking 15thand QB is all that's talked about. I'm in a small minority that says, We have stidham, who never got a fair chance to do anything. Wait until the third round and get a Costello or a Felipe Franks and with the $62M in cap money, sign a Fitzpatrick to work with both.
I think that cap number will explode up when Belichick trades Stephon Gilmore ($17M) and cuts/trades Marcus Cannon ($9M).
i think the Cowboys will franchise Dak and then Bill will swoop in and trade Gilmore to the Cowboys and bring Dak to NE for a year and try to extend him. Belichick loves broken toys.
