Pittsburgh 10 - 16 NY Jets: Final | 2019-12-22 | National Football League | Yahoo! Sports

Steelers 24 rushes for 75 yards in a loss to the jets! That game would likely have put the Steelers in the playoffs even with their QB troubles. So why not run? Clearly they are again choosing to be 28th in the NFL in YPC......

But their poor run blocking was just a choice. Laughable!
Mediocre runblocking line does badly against an elite run defense, let's fight over 75 yards in a sport where two thirds of the yardage is passing unless you're the Ravens. The correct observation is Rudolph/Duck both are awful QB's, Steelers can't pass and are a bad team living off of takeaways to survive this long in the playoff race.

You're so smart...

While I will agree with you that it's a passing game now, I have to ask. How many times have you watched a game and seen a D line up with 3 men down, one in the middle over a guard and two outside or over the tackles, it's 3rd and 2, the MLB is 5 yards deep and the O is in 5 wide. Now tell me why the QB doesn't take one drop step and if the MLB takes one step back he doesn't hit the hole opposite the DT for the 1st down? I see this game in and game out and realize they don't want their QBs taking hits, but he can get 3, slide and nobody can hit him without a penalty, but nobody, and I mean nobody does it.

A lot more lately. Would imagine it'll only get more popular as a reaction to the passing game and away from the old heavyhanded stop the run approach.

If Greg Roman was still in Buffalo- I bet we see it. Lamar is a bit too wiry to be taking those kind of shots.

The Ravens kinda already achieve this in a sense I feel like effectively by running pistol formations as much as they do while also adding in other window dressing like zone-read/RPO, etc. Coaches need to start copying how the Ravens run the football, there's stuff to be learned there that's not unique to Jackson, imo. The running game has been woefully neglected for a long time.

Edit: Kliff Kingsbury was actually talking quite a bit about this concept. 11 on 11 football I think he was calling it. Have to think he's going to be all over the Ravens tape in the offseason.
