Poor Mahomes doesn’t have Kelce and Hill to throw to anymore. He’s had pretty damn talented receivers for most of his career so far.
His WR's are mostly bad outside of Hill, tbh. He just powered through anyone so nobody outside of Chiefs fans really cared too much, tbh.

The fact Purdy is even in the discussion is incredible. People wanted Lance over him to start the season. Nobody expected him to be a top player and he is.

Call him a game manager, MVP, whatever you want, you can't deny he's a great player.

Mahomes is being completely ignored in this conversation for no reason. He's the linchpin for his offense nearly as much as Lamar. Everyone is just bored of the Chiefs I guess.
Is there a standout player on that defense worthy? I don't see one. As many have said, MVP has largely become a QB award. If this truly to be the most valuable, not just best statistical season, Mahomes needs to be in the discussion.
Mahomes on the Chiefs offense is just the the Bugatti at the falling apart house meme. Best QB in football on a stinky offense. Not an MVP per se.

Buying 2024 Mahomes MVP stock... seems like a good idea though. Chiefs get non-CFL level receivers and they're pushing 30+ a game as usual.

Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if they right the ship offensively in '24. Rice will be a bonafide player and they will find some other guys and dump the deadwood, imo. I still won't count out the Chiefs this post-season either. There is no runaway favorite in the AFC. Ravens, obviously at the top of the pile right now but they will need to show they can do it in the post season. We'll see how Miami finishes the season but the Chiefs could go into either building and win if needed.

Should be the 2 seed methinks. Probably with Baltimore as the 1.

Just a matter of if they can stop pointing a shotgun directly at themselves... which they seem unable to do.

Yeah, I'm thinking 2 seed as well but like I said, all depends on what Miami does. Whether they can actually beat good teams down the stretch. They will need to if they want to be taken seriously. Ravens are kind of an unknown. Should be top dog. Should be good. Lamar should get the play-off monkey off his back with a smarter offense but will they is going to be a question until it ain't.

Without something so spectacular for a non QB, it isnt gonna be them.
With QBs it wont be QBs with a bunch of turnovers.
They will have to have one of the better records. (even though that is a team thing)
& then they will look at the stats. Whether that is right or not.
Also how potent the offense is.
Making this Purdy's to lose.
Mahomes & Lamar have a lot of turnovers.
Lamar has only 17 passing TDS & a much lower scoring offense.

the ravens could beat the niners & if Purdy doesnt meltdown would still win it.
Way more yards, way more TDs , way less turnovers. Much more potent offense.

Who could keep up or surpass Purdy in stats.
Tua, Goff & Dak.
Who of those guys are gonna get votes over Purdy?

If Purdy starts to turn it over. I give Tua the outside chance. If lions win out? :noidea:

Now with all this said.
All these guys mentioned do finish the season playing other good teams & a lot play each other's.
So stay tuned many things could change, but all in all. It is Purdy's to lose.

LOL bullshit, you said what you said.

I said Mahomes should be in the discussion, nothing more. I have actually been more supportive here of Lamar. You guys act like voters don't play favorites and there isn't 3 weeks left for things to drastically change. If Tyreek misses more games, or the Dolphins continue to struggle with .500+ teams? If the Ravens crumble? Purdy and or CMC getting hurt isn't exactly a rarity either (Purdy gave a scare this past weekend). Teammates being candidates often splits the vote too. Dak's bad game doesn't eliminate him either.

I agree, but this late in the season a bad optic for him. Hard to overcome right now, but other playoff teams to look good against to right the ship as well.
Alot of interesting games for all concerned still left to play.

Fun fact.
The only full time starter with zero lost fumbles is Matthew Stafford.
He has been good against the turnovers.

Matt has been pretty good. His stats were down for a while, as the TDs were going to the running game and Kupp was hurt. The Rams have pieced together a better season than most had predicted, losing typically to playoff teams. No big upsets, but a few missed opportunities.

Here's a little thought experiment.. what would their respective records be if Lamar & Purdy had switched teams before the season?

Other than what some of those clowns in Rams forum think, McVay is foing a great job coaching up these young guys. They went into this past offseason with lots of questions, but have put together a good young nucleus from the draft the last 2 seasons. More impressive that they are 3rd to 5th rounders.

The Rams forum is so quick to judge. The Rams roster has so many rookies and UDFAs, it's ridiculous. They hit the reset button this year, growing pains are to be expected. I view any progress this season as a bonus. No expectations as to playoffs or success if they get there, but I'll take it if they can keep this going.

That said, I've had more than enough of Kendrick. I wish Tomlinson could get out there to start learning on the job.

Both would be worse off.

Nah, Lamar would do just fine with the Niners. Shanahan wanted a mobile QB, hence the Trey Lance pick. His stats would be different, as he wouldn't have to rely on his legs as much.

Here's the only reasonable answer: no way to know, and how one answers will basically reveal their biases/preferences.

Each team is designed to use their QB's strengths, switch them and there's no way to know how the coaches would structure things.

Football is the ultimate team sport and the hardest one to pass out individual awards for.
