As an FYI only 2 teams appear in the Top 10 of offense AND defense ( Arizona and New England ). Generally speaking great defensive teams prevent huge chunk plays which makes for longer possessions. Longer possessions means less total possessions. That means less points and yards for that teams offense. The opposite is generally true for teams with great offenses. Those teams rarely have elite ranked defenses because the game has more possessions ESPECIALLY big strike offenses like Oakland, Atlanta, Washington

No I think teams that have success throwing the ball will continue to throw it. Just as teams that run it well will continue to run it. Passing is more big strike though so I'd wager teams that throw it well probably have more possessions per game as would their opponents and more possessions equals more points and more yards

Well...it's an amazing coincidence.

Not really. I'd say it's typical. See my post right above your last one

I was kidding. It's not a coincidence at all.

Obviously. Teams that score more get scored on more because of possessions. Last year the top 4 in yards played for teams with an average D rank of 18, the year before it was 17.. that includes New England twice, Denver, Pitt, Zona.

It's not just possessions. Teams that score more tend to score quickly, which means less rest for the defense. Also, if a teams scores a lot, odds are that the majority of their cap is spent on the offense.

They wouldn't be relevant if they went 1-3

If Jimmy doesn't get hurt, the Pats go 4-0 without Brady

Don't know how you give an MVP to a guy whose teams wins every game without him

They also, not hyperbole, have had the #1 easiest schedule in the NFL

Not a chance in hell the Falcons go 4-0 without Ryan, the Packers without Rodgers, the Lions without Stafford, the Raiders without Carr, etc
So is it or isn't it the easiest schedule? If it is then your argument of the first four games is not relevant. You play your schedule.

TB at age 39 is breaking a record every night he steps on the field. In 12 games he's on pace for 4k + yards, 30 TDs, 3 Ints another AFC championship. Heat beat the # D last night, he lost to Seattle then the # 1 by a whisker when the team D didn't even show up. He's definitely in the argument for MVP.

Its not what I say its 99% of the world that says it. LOL Like I said I wont argue with you because I think Brady is right there and if he wins another one yes he is 1A or 1B. Im ok with that. something still needs to be said about going 4-0 in super bowls. Brady stumbled twice against 2 wild card teams(Giants).
Brady did his job. He brought them back and the D couldn't hold. Otherwise he'd be 6 for 6 and people would be freaking out that he must've cheated and it's a different era and his D and kicker won the SBs... u get the idea

It's not comparing players, its pointing out the FACT players don't have to play the whole season to be awarded the MVP.
Montana played only 13 games in 89 when he won one of his MVPs
Elway only played 12 games in 87 (strike year)

According to the average production abovecreplacement Stat the difference between Matt Ryan and Tom Brady this year is MORE than the difference between Brady and Alex Smith. Just saying

Does it take into account for playing in a stadium for half your games? Or the ranking of the defenses you played?

There's a huge difference between 12 and 13 games.

Yes. It's adjusted for defenses played. Not sure on domes. I know it takes home vs road into account but not sure on domes. My guess is yes but I am not 100%

This is fun because you'll never get everyone to agree. It's kind of like what's a catch and what isn't?

it's way to subjective.

Some will say there's a huge difference between 12 and 13 games.

Some will say a lot of things that are bullshit.

I think some teams should be happy he didn't get to play those 1st 4.

Imagine how embarrassed they'd be today if he had.

Like I said Matt Ryan will win and is a lock now. His schedule was way too easy for him not to win.

Rodgers had a nice walk off bomb win but the two dropped TD's from Adams killed his stats so he's out.
Brady stats were terrible today but he got the win. He's now out of the race.

If Elliot has a 200+ yard and 2 TD performance tonight vs the Bucs he can get back into the conversation maybe.

I think you can win the MVP missing 4 games but your stats need to be appreciably better than the other front runners. Btadys are not so he won't. Even on a per game basis Brady doesn't really lead in many QB stats and the ones he does lead in are miniscule leads.
Brady is fading fast.

He will still get plenty of love. He's Brady. Part of me wouldn't mind seeing him win ( even though he doesn't deserve it ), watching Goodell squirm would be awesome
