I agree CB is a bigger need but this year there are a lot of good CB available in free agency and in the draft so I should be easier to fill then maybe it has been in the past. LB wasn't something that I saw as a big need but in light of Foster being an idiot it becomes a bigger need than it should have been one they will have to address in the draft or free agency probably both.

IF we cut Foster, clearly that generates a Need, so we'll let that play out first. I tend to think he serves a 6 game suspension, but remains with the team? So while we don't have him all season, we'll have him at ILB.

Whereas we don't even have a starter nor depth at CB, just Witherspoon and K'Wan?! So i really hope you're right about the availability of CB talent? I would think a 'starting' level FA and two draft picks? One CB within the first 3 rounds, another afterward. One of the draft picks will have the versatility for NB.

BTW - i tend to like production over high ceiling, so based on what i've read so far, Roquan Smith seems a safer pick than Edmunds? IF LB is the value, then seems like it should be Roquan Smith?

I agree about Smith and Edmunds, Smith would be my pick of the two. I would probably go CB or OL with the first pick probably the first two unless a guy that fills the Leo spot is available. At the end of the day I just want them to get starter caliber talent or better with their first three picks which they should be able to do, they did it a year ago with Thomas, Foster, and Witherspoon.

Yes, no matter who they draft, those players have to pan out. All the measurables mean naught if the player doesn't pan out to at least his draft status. You can have the 1st and 4th pick overall, but choose the wrong players? You can have the 32nd pick, but choose the right player.

As far as our individual "wish list", i'm hoping the same thing.....first and foremost is LEO. But it doesn't look like it'll fall that way. So next i'd be fine with CB or OL, but i wouldn't assume it'll be an OG, ie Nelson? picking an OL that high, hopefully an OT is worth that spot.

Looking for Leo: Pass rushers who will intrigue the 49ers at the scouting combine

IMO the biggest Need is LEO, but there is no Free Agent (don't like Ansah) and this draft class isn't looking good?!

We could draft Landry or Key, but are they worth the 9th or 10th pick? If we wait till the 2nd rounder, will it make sense if its only a little upgrade over Dumerville?

Yeah that is kind of the problem I don't think they will be able to easily upgrade the Leo position. So it could be something that has to wait another year. I'm sure they will draft a DE but they might not be a highly drafted guy.

21. 49ers (from Buffalo): Isaiah Wynn, G, Georgia.

Analysis: Wynn is an excellent pass-protector — he played left tackle in college. He also is a terrific run blocker, who has the speed and quickness to fit the 49ers’ outside-zone blocking scheme. He’s the total package. He will start immediately at left guard.

Wow, if this is true, looks like a solid pick.

I'm guessing that is Buffalo trading up for a QB leaving the 49ers with the 21st pick and I'm guessing the 22nd pick. I like the pick but to me that is to far to drop back in the draft.

The value chart I've seen both those picks are more than fair value by eleven spots in the draft is a long drop and the price to get a QB is always higher so the should want and get more.

Yeah, this mock has us trading down to the 21st, a 95th, and a 2019 1st. I'm sure it'll depend on who's left on the board? So if there is a trade down, it'll be when we're on the clock. Ot first glance, don't think this is a good trade?

From reading, i THINK only 2 teams are seriously consider trading up to where we are, Arizona and Buffalo? ie don't see us getting a trade down one spot like last year, not even two? For those who want a trade down, you'd likely be looking at 16th?

That seems like a better trade down. Like I said moving back that far in the draft so a team can take a AN usually gets you more than market value especially now that they have a rookie wage scale.

don't know what we'd get trading down to 16th, but is the 16th guy on the board much better than the 21st? He will be better but so much better we pass on a 2019 1st rounder?

The Buffalo trade by itself is questionable, but just comparing Arizona vs Buffalo, Buffalo seems better?

Well one would assume that you would be getting more than just the 16th pick and how valuable is a 2019 pick from a team that made the playoffs this year with a QB carousel. The Bills are a pretty good team so that pick in 2019 has limited value to me anyway. If I'm being honest I would rather they just take the best player available unless someone blows them away that Bills trade doesn't blow me away.

Yes, we still need more talent than we think. Those wins last year were great, but now we have too much expections. Shannahan is right, bottom line is this is a 6-10 team with lots of room for improvement.

The one player who can do the most for the above, is the LEO. Unfortunately, doesn't look like we'll get a top talent this year.

It is always hard being patient for that high pick, so it is easier to take the best player now. No problem with that.

Yes, Arizona will give us a 3rd or so along with the 16th. Don't know really, just guessing off hand.

Either way, it'll come down to who's still on the board.

We will sign a FA CB for sure, may not be the best on this list, but we'll add at least one. Same for the draft, we will draft at least one CB.

I think they will likely sign two CB's and then draft at least one maybe two as well.
