Not really. He's a free agent and they want to see Severino in the rotation. I can't see them getting more than a fringe prospect for him.

Understood. I guess I meant it's going to be interesting to see who perceives enough value in him to make a compelling enough offer.

Just about everyone needs pitching help so they'll probably get an offer but I can't see them getting much for him. If he gets on one of his hot streaks he could really help a team down the stretch but he's just as likely to have one of his bad streaks and sink a team.

I'm still hoping they can make a Chapman like trade with Beltran. The guy is having a great year but Aaron Judge comes off the minor league DL later this week. I'd like to see the kid get a couple of months in the majors to prep him for next year

pretty big disparity in Nova's FIP/xFIP marks. His 4.84 FIP is very mediocre, but his 3.93 xFIP is solid. He's been awfully HR prone for a guy with a 54.9% groundball rate, and it hasn't just been because of Yankee Stadium. A 20.7% HR/FB rate is rather high.

He's mediocre. When he's good he's really good and when he's bad he's really bad. Decent back of the rotation guy but that's about it. A team like the Mets could use him as their 5th starter right now and put Verette back to long relief/middle innings.

You could do worse than Nova as your #5 starter... see Kelly/Buchholz/O'Sullivan/etc.

True but they want to give Severino a shot for the rest of the year and Nova's a free agent. The latest is the Marlins are giving him a look. That might actually be a nice fit. As a righty in Yankee stadium that left field porch is a killer. Plus he gives up a lot of fly balls. With a much bigger home park, no DH and bigger parks in general in that division he could be much more effective. He also was decent in a couple of relief appearances so if your team makes the playoffs and he isn't one of your top 4 you can use him there.

I still don't see them getting much for him but why not take a flyer on a couple of fringe prospects?

Feels like the Mets already have enough guys like Nova on the roster. Also, Wheeler should be back aannnnyyy...daaaaayyyy....noooowwwww....

pirates trade away two pitchers and then pick up nova??

Liriano and Niese have been pretty bad. Not that Nova's lighting the world on fire or anything, but moving out of the home run happy AL East could help.
