Why the delay in firing Sparano & rest of this unqualified coaching staff? I don't mind if they bring TS back as O-line coach, but I don't mind if they let him walk either. Our O was horrendous, especially the run. These firings should have been announced at 10AM. :gaah:

I believe that everyone besides Sparano has an expiring contract at the end of the year. No need to fire them if their contract is going to expire.

Mangini coming in for interview. I would prefer to keep Sparano over that worthless slob. Here's my rankings (these just come to mind):

1. Jack Del Rio (with kick-ass O coord)
2. Mike Holmgren
3. Steve Mariuchi
4. Mike Smith
5. Rex Ryan
6. Sparano
7. My pet iguana, Iggy

PS: I would entertain any coordinator (O or D) from SEA or NE, provided they are HC ready.

I would move Iggy up to #1 on that list but thats just me

cd, its the meds talking.. I would be ok with TS if we kept him.. Im pretty sure he would get a NEW coaching staff.. The Raiders are talking to alot of coaches as of right now, that's a good thing!! Bowles is another guy they will talk to.. The pool of coaches is bigger this time around for my Raiders.. Let's see who they pick..

So the Raiders want to talk to Pep Hamilton eh?? He would be a pretty good hire imo, just for the fact that he would coach Carr up real good.. I would take Pep over Bowles!! The reason?? The OC these guys would both bring.. With Bowles, if his OC stinks?? We will stink, but have a beast D!! With Pep?? If his OC stinks, Pep takes over play calling, and the O would be better.. Be it Del Rio, Bowles, Pep, OR WHOEVER.. The OC and DC will be KEY!! Looks like Gus Bradley wants Trestman for his OC?? He gets him?? Look out for that team!!
Mark and RM putting work in!! Find us the best coaches!! If TS wants the gig, he better start putting a staff together, cuz Olson and crew are done in Oakland!!

This young team does not another unproven, wannabe coach. They need someone who COMMANDS respect, because of their proven track record. DA couldn't think & chew gum at the same time. He did do a pretty good job with the gum though.

The focus here on this thread seems to be Holmgren and Harbaugh. If I were a Raider's fan, I wouldn't be looking so much toward either of these guys. Harbaugh is pretty much on his way to Michigan and Holmgren is going to cost way too much and he's been out of caoching for quite awhile.

Rex Ryan has already visited San Fran and interviewed there, Mike Smith has lost the ear of the young players in the league and is old news, and Jon Gruden is not leaving the ESPN gig.

The names you ought to be focusing on are from the following list: Todd Bowles, DC, Cardinals, Dan Quinn, OC, Seahawks, Darrell Bevel, DC, Seahawks (coached the #1 defense), Josh McDaniels, OC, New England Patriots, Gary Kubiak, out of football, Mike Singletary, out of football, Kevin Greene, LB coach/assistant DC Green Bay, Adam Gase, and Teryl Austin both assistant coaches.

These are the guys that are the next wave of NFL HCs and there are a couple that have HC experience. If Mark Davis is smart this time around, he won't chase memories but be bold like his dad and seek out a young aggressive innovator. There is a number of those on the above list. Don't be surprised if one or more of these guys end up a HC in the various teams around the NFL including the Raiders that now have HC vacancies.

Retroram52 I like your list but you screwed up on a few. Pretty sure Bevel is the OC of the Seahawks where Dan Quinn is the DC of the Seahawks. Also Gary Kubiak is not out of the NFL right now as he is the OC for the Ravens.

For sure Zar, we don't need any Lane Kiffin's around here again.

the Raider list is long and varied, Al Davis made some good hires, he also screwed up royally, it started in the late '80's and really didn't click until Gruden, which he screwed up as well. I could go on, but the list is readily available, from Bugel to Shanahan Shell Turner Kiffin, ye gads man.

There were a bunch who really didn't get a fair shake, Hue Jackson for one, and w/o a doubt Shanahan.

Yea cd. The Roselle rule is in effect until after the playoffs and potentially the superbowl for Bevel and Quinn. You are correct on Kubiak as well. The point of the post was that there are way more people in the pipeline that could do a damn good job for less bucks continuing the long-term positives the FO is got going which is a lot of cleaning up the insanity Mark Davis allowed to fester as a result of being thrown into owning the club when his father died.

As flaraider pointed out, cleaning up his father's mess that Al got himself into when he was on the way out and was most likely suffering in the early stages of dementia, Mark Davis is going to take awhile to get things going again. All those coaches and the string of horrible drafts ran a once proud franchise into the ground.

As others have pointed out here, McKenzie has the club going in the right direction and the hiring of Howie Long Jr. (Howie Long senior's third son) in the FO I believe is really contributing to this slow positive turnaround. Howie Jr brings alot of integrity and football smarts to the FO and he will be instrumental in improving the drafts; I can almost guarantee it.

Next to the Rams, I've always like the Raiders and want to see them return to prominence but it is going to take a lot of hard work and it will be awhile but some of the pieces are in place at least in the FO. I am watching from afar and I'd love to see the Raiders sitting atop the AFC West in the future.

I agree Idahoraiderfan. This is still a business and if you don't adjust and evolve, you get run over by the progress train. Oakland is back on the tracks so to speak and now it is up to the FO and MD to interview the candidates to focus on their on-going positive directions. I hope they nail it this time.

Pretty solid posting by you RetroRams.. The truth is, the Raiders are now back on an even playing field with the rest of the NFL.. And that means trouble for them baby!! In years past, the hot coaches like Bevell, Bowles, Del Rio, etc, would never talk to us.. It just goes to show the good work Mark and Reggie are doing in bringing this franchise back to where it belongs.. Still alot of work to be done, but its getting closer!!
Rumors out there that MD is working on getting a Team President as well.. Welcome to modern football RAIDERS!! Oh, and sooner or later a NEW Stadium..

So the Raiders will interview Shurmur eh?? I think he would be good!! He would bring a mix of Philly's O mixed with his own.. In order for a system like his to work at max level, you need a QB!! Carr would thrive in his system!! The RUN game would be beast as well, with Murray and a draft pick!! Cutting edge Offense!! And we have the QB to run any style of play!! Now is the time to mold Carr in the type of Offense we want to run.. Whoever the HC is has to have Carr in mind first.. If it's a D HC?? You better get the best OC money can buy..

So the first 2 people the Raiders talk to are Bevell and Shurmur eh??
Either of those 2 would be a score!! IMO.. I would lean more to Shurmur, cuz i like that Philly O!! But Bevell would be good as well.. Im sorry board members but i want an Offensive minded coach.. Now, i would be happy with some D minded HC as well.. But i just fear what OC he can get?? We need to develop Carr.. It starts and ends at QB.. Now is the time to mold Carr into what we want him to be.. Get him WEAPONS!! TOP O coaching.. Again, im open to whatever.. This is just what i would do.. What would you do??

I agree idahoraiderfan. I think RM and MD are going to hold out till after the playoffs and talk to Bevel or Quinn from Seattle. Bevel would turn that offense around in about two years. Shurmur is also a good coach that would make a pretty darn good HC.

Don't forget the work Howie Long Jr is doing. He brings a great deal of football hutzpah, knowledge, integrity and professionalism to the organization, not to mention his work ethic is just like his dad's. He will improve the draft integrity that was run into the ground by toads that had no business being involved in the draft and you'll see smarter, wiser drafts with better talent selected because of Howie Long Jr's work behind the scenes.

I see good things for the "new" Raiders and they are going to be a damn good football team in the future because they are on that track right now!!

RetroRam, The legendary HOF Player and well loved and respected Howie Long put out some great kids!! Its a shame that Chris Long don't play for the Raiders.. But any Long involved with the Raiders is a GREAT thing..
Now on to the coaches.. I have no idea how good of a coach Shurmur would be with us, he failed in Cleavland after all.. But to hold that against him is wrong, cuz that place was a death trap for coaches!! Billechick, Holmgren, Crennel, Mangini, etc, all failed there.. That place with its coaches was like Oakland with its players!!
Once the players left Oakland they got better!! Thank goodness that no longer is the case!! Again, im not saying he is a must hire!! I just think he would be better this time around.. Love his O style of play.. Bevell, Coached in Green Bay for years, coached up Farve, and now coaches RW!! He is a great OC, can he be a great HC?? Dude is a pure ZBS guy though.. Any HC would be great with the right QB!! It comes down to what you prefer to run..
