Looks like Jackson is out and Coughlin is in. I still dont get why they want him. Besides the 2 super bowls his teams havent been that great.

The divisionals are this weekend. York will have 4 teams worth of assistant coaches to interview if he wants.
My guess is The Giants might offer the best situation regarding ownership, NY being a media mecca, having an established QB with 2 rings, and playing in the NFCE. That might be too much for Hue to pass up.

They haven't been good in three years. Hope this interest passes over. Leave Grandpa to the Eagles

The only thing I can see to why to hire him to bring some respectability back to the 49ers and maybe set them up with the next head coach after he retires. Maybe also he can bring Spags as his DC. That is the only thing. He is a stop gap and he will be more of an advisor HC for the next one in 2-4 years. I can't see him coaching more then 3 years.

Don't worry. We have Tom Coughlin as a backup plan. :(

Why not interview Bud Grant while they are at it. He is only 88 years old and was at the Viking game last Sunday

He was there with no sleeves - just the tough guy this team needs. ;)

Hue Jackson - C - Bengals

The San Jose Mercury News reports the 49ers are no longer in the running for Bengals OC Hue Jackson.
It suggests either the Browns or Giants could be closing in on a deal to make Jackson their new head coach. Kawakami reports the 49ers could "double back" on Jackson, but that seems unlikely.

Jed is more like his cheap father locking the water cooler until the trainer comes to unlock it than his uncle that actually turned the Niners into a great franchise.

I just don't see that scenario working. I see him flaming out and the coaching search starting over from scratch in a couple of years. I don't see him getting the job anyway. This is going to drag on

I saw an article that stated York was going to be conducting the interview with Jackson. Anybody able to verify that, and whether or not Baalke was there at all? If Baalke is supposed to be hiring the coach, as Jed said he was going to be doing in his press conference, why was York involved at all?

I don't see that Jed has learned anything from when he ill advisedly terminated Harbaugh if that story is accurate.
York makes the final decision on any hire.

Are we officially the smelly kid at school now? How the Browns beat any team out in a HC search is beyond me...hopefully Jackson is just leveraging right now...

If Gase was the guy last year before York decided to go with Tomsula then why did we not even interview him this year?

Gase said no and If i was Gase I wouldnt go to the 49ers after what they did. 49ers would have to pay double to land him.

I do not expect the 49ers to interview any more candidates. Thus, they should be deciding on someone relatively soon.

Not sure who that could be.
