I think more than anything they offered more control but I don't know that for sure.

I definitely believe that was one issue. The other one being the Browns appeared to push harder. What I would really like to find out is just how much control he was offered. I wouldn't have offered full control but he should have some control and say over the roster. If Baalke is being too firm in holding onto full control, then the 49ers will never get a good candidate to sign on.

Not only that but neither team has a QB and he'll get to pick the better player because they are picking higher.

I think they really need to fire Baalke too but Jed is a moron so that won't happen.

Definitely another plus. If you are considered a top prospect with multiple opportunities, you are going to want to control your own destiny as much as possible. That means bringing in your own assistants and having a say in building the roster. If Baalke is not at least offering that much, I could why HJ or any other top candidate would pass.

Reminds of the the movie "Stuck on You" with Matt Damon and Greg Kinnear. These two clowns are joined at the hip. As long as Baalke is around, Niners will not be able to land the coach they truly want. I'm just shaking my head that Jackson chose the Browns over the Niners.

I think it will happen at some point when things continue to falter. But really if I think the problem runs even higher than that. If I took over the team, the first thing I would do is fire or demote the president Al Guido whose only NFL experience is marketing tickets for the Cowboys and hire a president with good NFL experience to build up the front office and bring in a capable GM.

We are currently in the red at this point. Not only are we minus a HC, but other teams are taking our assistants that are even halfway decent. Our OLine coach was hired by Gase. Linebacker coach became a college DC. Now Sparano is being interviewed by the Vikings. I am pretty sure no one is coming to take Geep or Mangini

As I said all along: Hue was not weighing offers. He was not leveraging anyone. He was waiting for an owner to tell him "You're my guy.

If you are a Niners fan who wanted Hue: Do not believe anyone who tells you he informed them he didn't have interest. He was interested

I would expect the 49ers to choose between Tom Coughlin, Dirk Koetter (if still available), Chip Kelly, Mike Shanahan et al very soon

Here are 2 other names maybe the 49ers need to think about. Lovie Smith(who i think did a great job at TB.) and Todd Haley OC for the steelers. He has some HC coaching experience and has done a nice job as the OC at Pitt.

I dont see chip or Shanahan because neither had a real interview. It has to be between Tom and Koetter and the sleeper pick is Mangini(please dont do it again and hire with in).

Give the Browns credit, at the end of the day they went out and got the guy they wanted. The 49ers didn't.
100% agree, This is what York needs to learn. he did it with Harbaugh and it worked. He has to go back to that mentality. Go get your Guy. Stop playing games.

problem is according to reports the 49ers closed the interview process so unless something changes I don't see that happening.

Chip had a real interview and I believe Baalke discussed the job with Shanahan. They could hire either. I hope they don't go after Chip because I see a train wreck there. I am okay with Shanahan but I have my doubts Baalke will do that.
