I'm not at all surprised that our list of prospects includes a first year OC from Cleveland, a RB's coach (though I am greatly amused that it's somebody from Roman's staff), and a guy who failed so impressively that I'm shocked anybody, including our inept front office, would even consider interviewing him for another HC gig so soon after the disaster in Philly. I'd rather not hire Shannahan or Hugh, but they're so much better than the rest of this list of garbage. I wouldn't be happy with Hugh Jackson, but he and Shanny are the only two candidates that I would even consider interviewing of the prospective candidates the 9ers are considering.

Just further confirmation that I don't think any legit coach will consider working for this franchise. Hopefully after this trainwreck where we hire a coach we'll need to fire for going 3-13 next season, and completely failing in another draft, York will finally get rid of Baalke. I have serious doubts that this will occur. For the love of God, please fly banners over the SuperBowl denouncing this ownership group.

Could just pony up 10m+ per year and land Saban after he wins another National Title on Monday, but we all know York is WAY to cheap to go after the big fish. At least he's not going for minnows like Tomsula.... yet.

I'd rather give Tomsula another year than Saban. His schtick doesn't work with professionals.

Of the group that we're expected to interview, I like him the best. If the 9ers HC job was as revered as Jed wants to believe it is, guys like Hugh Jackson would be low on the priority list. I don't think we're going to get somebody of Jackson's caliber until Baalke gets fired, and I don't see that happening for at least three more years. I think Jed is going to give the next coach a long leash, and only after going 3-13, 4-12, and 4-12 will he pull the trigger and fire both coach and GM.

I think his press conference was entirely lip service, and I think once the new coach comes in, it's going to be business as usual (with Harbaugh being the exception, not the rule). Another wasted draft. Another wasted year. The first real indicator that we're headed down that path is when we don't try to trade up for a QB in this draft, and then trade down and take either a S or somebody with a blown ACL. I don't know who we'll hire as coach, but I don't feel good about the way it's going already. We're interviewing worse candidates than we interviewed last year.

We could miss out on him
As sad as it is to say, of the Dolphins, Browns and 49ers, I'd say the 49ers are the least desirable job, from the prospective candidate's perspective. It's disgraceful how far Jed has shoved this team into the ground. Remember when the 9ers could literally tell any coach in the league, "You're coaching for us next year. I don't care how much you like your job." Now we have to consider guys like the Bills' RB's coach. That's pathetic.

Actions speak louder than words.

Buffalo's RB coach is a Rooney Rule candidate. As far as it being the least desirable job, Mike Silver isn't hearing that

Lovie Smith was available, and is at least a legitimate coach. Even considering bringing this guy in shows how little interest there is in this position.
Clear from the beginning they want a coach with an offensive background. That makes sense given where they at with a possible new QB and state of the offense. Love Smith is a defensive coach

Why would you trade up in this draft for a QB?

And yet it does for Harbaugh, Carrol, and Belichick?
Thing about his stay at Miami. Who was their QB?
Year 1 he had Gus Frerotte. Year 2 they traded for Daunta Culpepper instead of signing Drew Brees. Imagine how many things would have changed had the Dolphins been smart enough to take Brees. Saban might have 3+ Super Bowl titles and Bama still searching for a head coach to resurrect their program.

Yup Jackson is out. I think Miami is about to land Gase thats why. Its between us and the Browns. No way he picks the Browns. That is the 1 franchise that is in a bigger mess then us. I think we land our guy.

If we dont land him we can be in trouble. The good news there are some decent back up plans not like last year.

I read somewhere there is some interest in Shanahan. Last year Tomsula was the clear favorite early on

We will see this weekend. I hate saying 100% until it happens. I read if Cincy wins this could drag out
