Yeah you're right...like I said, I don't know anything about the show cause, and that does sound like a train wreck waiting to happen. Not something that Eichorst, who has been very calculated with everything he's done, would bet his job on.

I think he knows what he's doing. Just a gut feeling, and I could be completely wrong, but I think he's gone about this the right way thus far, and I think he's got a plan. For all I know though, this could just turn into a dumpster fire. I hope I'm right.

Depends on who they hire.... If it's someone coaching in a big bowl game they'd probably wait. On the other hand, we need to get some of our recruits back so earlier the better.

I do think the timing was off I think he should have waited till after the bowl.

Doesn't it make sense that if tressel has to sit out a bowl game and the first 5 games. He could sit out this shitty bowl. And focus on the meat of next season

He's still being babysat by Helfrich and running his system.

And yet the Frost Tressel rumors persisit. I just don't see that as working. Who would hire the assistants under that situation. Tressel in no way shape or form could have a say in that. So, Frost hires the assistants and then Tressel has to work with them----reeks of a giant clusterfuck.

I'm not saying it's for sure going to be JT, I just find it intriguing and fun to discuss.... It does seem a bit of a pipe dream though... Next we'll be hearing that it will be Tressel as HBC, Frost as OC, and Muschamp as DC....

Like someone said earlier, we should really all remind ourselves that it's going to end up being someone that nobody expected.

That way we aren't too disappointed when one of these pipe dreams doesn't end up happening.

It also imposed a five-year show-cause penalty on Tressel, which means any NCAA member that wants to hire him would have to "show cause" for why it shouldn't be sanctioned for hiring him, and could face severe penalties if he commits any further violations during that time. The order stands until December 19, 2016; given past precedent, it will likely have the effect of blackballing Tressel from the coaching ranks until the 2017 season. If Tressel ever coaches again during this period, he will be suspended for the first five games of the regular season, plus any conference championship game or bowl game.

Maybe there is a end around on his hiring but this suggests to me that he can't do anything or rather have anything to do with operations in a football program period until the start of the 2017 season.

Contrary to popular belief, an NCAA member school is allowed to hire a coach who is under an ongoing show-cause order. However, the show-cause restrictions make it prohibitively difficult for a coach with a show-cause order to get another collegiate job. As mentioned above, any school that hires a coach with an outstanding show-cause order can be penalized merely for hiring him. Additionally, that school could be severely punished if such a coach commits additional violations while the show-cause order is still in effect.<sup id="cite_ref-Schlabach_2-0" class="reference">[2]</sup> Consequently, most schools will not even consider hiring a coach with a show-cause penalty in effect, meaning that it usually has the effect of blackballing that coach from the collegiate ranks for the duration of the penalty. I don't see anything in there that states he cannot have anything to do with the team. It only states that he can't coach the first 5 games and the bowl game. I compare that to summer conditioning where, the coaches can't have contact with the team during practices but can still give direction to the S&C coach. There are ways around shit like that.
