I have no idea how you don't. After seeing what Martinez did to us, and how our offense still shot themselves in the foot with ugly turnovers against a bad defense, I don't see how you don't leave with at least a 14 point win, but probably more.

I can't remember a single time in that period where michigan was this good and our defense was this horrible. Hell, has michigan even been favored against us in that timeframe other than 2011?

I honestly cannot see a scenario where they would leave out
3 Conf Champs.

I'm not saying it won't happen, I just can't see it.

The CFP was set up knowing that 1 conf champ would be left out.

Everybody always knew that if ND were to get in, 2 would be left out.

I can't see any league being happy if 3 champs are left out.
I think the SEC would be ok with it, since they wouldn't be one of the 3 conferences and they would've gotten 2 in the CFP again. But I understand your point.

I have to imagine it happened at least once, certainly in the 2001-2007 range. But maybe not, because OSU won a championship in 2002.

In Conference USA UAB is the leader in the West Division. The "death penalty" (in this case imposed for financial reasons) was the best thing that happened to UAB football. Before it happened UAB was struggling every year. Their first year back after the "death penalty" they make a bowl. Now they are cruising towards a spot in the C-USA title game.

This is in stark contrast to the "death penalty" imposed on SMU (which here was for breaking multiple NCAA rules over a long period) over 30 years ago. SMU was crippled for two decades by their "death penalty".
