Am I total homer for wanting us to draft Jake Moody?

Cuz I want us to draft Jake Moody.

You've been Simpson'd, Homer.

I do like Moody though quite a bit, but I question anything beyond 52 yards. Indoor stadium at least 8 or 9 times a year may help.

Good points brought up here.

Chicago has one hell of an ending schedule to combat.
(Eagles, Bills, Lions, Vikings)

I would love to have Will Anderson, but like my usual pessimistic self when choosing a CB I like in the draft, I'm not even remotely confident he lasts to when we draft. That also extends to the Rams somehow finding a way to win a couple of games down the stretch.
  • vs. Raiders (5-7)
  • at Packers (5-7)
  • vs. Broncos (3-9)
  • at Chargers (6-6)
  • at Seahawks (7-5)
Didn’t realize they still have the Broncos on the schedule. That’s fantastic.

Go Broncos!

Would either of you consider, if needed, trading both of the Lions 2023 1st round picks to acquire Will Anderson?
no, because the mid 1st round pick Lions seem to be heading towards is the prime spot for one of the CB's that the team also needs.

I don’t really question anything inside that, at all though.

I’d rather see more picks than less picks.

We’re not at a point of dealing multiple starters for an elite stater yet, imo. And that’s really what would be happening there.

If the Rams won a couple games I might feel differently. But I wouldn’t trade a top 5 and top 20 to move to #2.

We're also headed towards picking in the range of15-20ish throughout the entire draft sans the Rams pick, and this might very well lead to not being in the vicinity to draft Witherspoon too in the 2nd round. I do not view him as a mid-first round pick.

I really, really like him. He has some slight mechanics and technique issues to clear up, but damn he's extremely intriguing.

I'd settle for Michigan CB DJ Turner though in the latter end of the 2nd round.

With the Lions quite possibly having a top 5 pick from the Rams, I think Georgia DT Jalen Carter is the one player and position that could conceivably help the Lions the most defensively. He can play anywhere on the DL from 6-tech down to 0-tech.

I don't see any other iDL prospect that outshines Carter and also with extreme questions surrounding Onwuzurike, Carter may very well be that could help propel this defense for years to come.

I'm honestly not in favor of any of the other Edge rushers beyond Will Anderson - Maybe Notre Dame's Isaiah Foskey. Myles Murphy and Tyree Wilson more than likely duplicate what we already have in Josh Paschal and John Cominsky should the latter be re-signed.

Lions still have the worst pass rush in football. Anderson should absolutely be the #1 goal. Carter would not be a bad consolation prize though.
Is the value added against what we currently have at DE or DL more by drafting Andersen or Carter greater than the value added by adding Porter jr or Ringo? I go back and forth on the matter on my mock simulators. I think one of those 2 corners would be better as there is legitimate gold mine of DL and DE to be had in first 2 to 2.5 rds but there is a substantial drop off of talent at CB after say the 4th CB off board, in my opinion

Is he really going to be that much better than Goff? Or less expensive?
I really dont know, I know Jimmy is a 75 with flashes of 85. I am tired of Goff's 91 then 45 sine wave crap

Not yet.

James Houston has 3 sacks in 2 games of limited play. Want to see the next few games at last. Romeo back too. Need to see how it all plays out. If anything we may need a Big end. Hopefully resign Commisky or we will need 2. Bryant not impressing.

Houston I believe got his 1st 2 on 4 total snaps. I think he has the look of a long term situational pass rush player and an awesome value. He is currently limited to clear passing downs however.

Would you mind expanding your thoughts on this comment. Who do you see as a gold mine at DE or DT? There definitely other players by name to list, but are any one of them in in the same mold as Anderson or Carter at their respective positions?

This could be true just as much as in the Edge rusher group of players.

When speaking of DT Jalen Carter, there is a monstrous drop-off after him and that includes even Brian Bresee - from my eyes only.

I will pull some of my faves, but gold mine I meant legit 2nd rd talent well into 3rd rd for both positions. Where I believe there is a sharp drop off after top 5 at most 6 CBs

If Romeo comes back fully healthy and shows he is what we saw back in 2020 then having Paschal and Romeo at the big end position might be good enough. However, if I were Holmes, I'd still re-sign Cominsky to a short-term contract to be on the safe side.

Houston is currently a pass-rush specialist only and is still a year or maybe more away from being a prototypical DE and he may very well never be an all-out diverse DE. They tried him out during camp as an off-the-ball LB, but it was too much for him. He had one year at Jackson State as an edge rusher and Deion Sanders told him then that his days of being an off-the-ball LB were left behind while he was playing that position for Florida.

I like what Houston has showed as a pass-rush specialist and if that's his forte while being a 6th round pick, then so be it. I'll take that pretty much every draft.

I think we also need to keep in my that some of these CFB Edge Rushers will be better suited as a 3-4 Base OLB versus playing in Lions 4-3 Base and it's not always based on physical stature but that does have a lot to do with it.

When you look at Bryant, Charles Harris and Julian Okwara all three are around 250 lbs., but they all have decent arm length and wingspan.
