The Lakers are paying the full 15mil.

The Rockets structured the contract so that the final year, poison pill, was so outrageous that the Knicks wouldn't match.

But, the average of the 3 yr/25 mil deal is about 8 mil per which is what counts against the Lakers cap.

Lin will earn $5 million per season in his first two years and $15 million in the third.

CONTRACT:3 yr(s) / $25,123,938 AVERAGE SALARY $8,374,646 GUARANTEED:$25,123,938

YEAR BASE CAP HIT
2012-2013 5,000,000 - - 8,374,646
2013-2014 5,225,000 - - 8,374,646
2014-2015 14,898,938 - - 8,374,646

Jeremy Lin Contract, Salary Cap Details & Breakdowns

I knew Houston was overpaying him, but DAYUM!! Jeremy got PAID!!

With the inconsistency we've seen so far, I'm glad he only counts $8 million towards the cap.

Okay. I knew there was something with Lin as well. Are the Lakers paying the full $15 million, but only $8 counts against the cap or are the Rockets paying the other $7?

The Lakers are paying it all, but only $8mil counts against the cap.

Rule,

Yes, the Celtics dont start benefiting on the Nets deal of last year until spring 2016, 18 months or so from now. That said, this announcement pretty much points to a full Nets rebuild ahead, which as you know well in LA, means a few years of really being sucking.

The 2016, 2017, 2018 chips from the Nets are now looking all like lottery picks, high ones. While they could wait to use these, truth is they cannot roster all these draft picks. Next year alone they are overloaded between Philly, Clippers and their Boston's own. What I see is a good bump in the value of these picks, and dannys arsenal of trade chips is looking better than anything he has in 2007.

Please suck Nets, we will welcome it!

I'm looking at the Celtics salary page on Basketball Insiders and they aren't getting Philly's first round pick next year. It's top-14 protected and becomes second rounders in 2015 and 2016. The Clippers will be a late first round pick.

Rule for next spring I agree but the years further out are juicier. Where would they even roster these pick from next 4 years? Danny has to move them and the juiciest ones are now the nets ones

I keep hearing about these moves old Danny Boy will be making

I was just clarifying that one of the three 2015 first rounders will go back to Philly. No doubt it will be top-14.

Not sure why they are blowing it up. I don't think they have a 1st round draft pick till 2018 after trading them to get the players they currently have.

Joking, I know a team can't trade back to back 1st round picks.
