He's not wrong about the difference in players though. Rice would not be that guy today. He'd definitely play though, probably be pretty good. Same thing as how basketball (especially) and baseball athleticism has changed. Thanks for posting this, what a damn good laugh.
So the GOAT of wr's couldn't play in today's game where DB's can't be nearly as physical as they were when Rice played?
Quick someone drug test Ian Hartitz.
I think some aren’t getting the joke. Of course he wouldn’t be the same player at 60.He's not wrong about the difference in players though. Rice would not be that guy today. Sure, but assuming they meant prime Rice wouldn't play today and didn't realize how they sounded, that's taking it too far. He'd play and be a good player he just wouldn't be GOAT (same as talking about Babe Ruth or Bill Russell etc)I think some aren’t getting the joke. Of course he wouldn’t be the same player at 60.
Well I took the initial post on the subject as a total joke because it mentioned he is 60 now and there were smiley faces lol. Babe Ruth is for another time I guess, but I would wager the difference between what he did and the average player in his day did is an astronomically bigger number than anyone else we could discuss from any other era in any other sport. Because of that I’m not willing to concede totally on the Babe.Sure, but assuming they meant prime Rice wouldn't play today and didn't realize how they sounded, that's taking it too far. Babe deserves all the accolades, and you're right the delta between him and the rest of the league has never been surpassed. But the league then was just a completely different activity in terms of player skill and athleticism. Today he'd be a skilled, overweight player, multiple all star and likely HOFer, but not GOAT level. He never saw pitchers like they have now, one after the other, all throwing 95+ and with 4-5 different pitchesWell I took the initial post on the subject as a total joke because it mentioned he is 60 now and there were smiley faces lol. Yup I had that thought about a lot of the league back then being plumbers and what not. The gap was so big though, I just have to wonder if he didn’t have such a freak amount of natural talent to just have risen above whatever level he was around. Playing against those guys kept him from being challenged much really.Babe deserves all the accolades, and you're right the delta between him and the rest of the league has never been surpassed. You're right about it being a joke post, I think Wamu and DJ and I thought the guy meant prime Rice but he was making a joke about 60 year old Rice
The Phil’s thought they were signing Trea Turner, .300 hitter and terror on the base paths. They actually just signed the reincarnation of Dickie Fucking Thon. You might have to go back to Lance Parrish to find a Phillie FA that’s been as disappointing as Turner.
Nope. What’s become out of line is that over time RB salaries have grown at such a ridiculously low rate that now the slotting of a top 10 pick for a rookie is now higher than that of the franchise tag at the RB position. Draft slot values aren’t generally slotted based on position with a special exception I believe for QBs. I think it’s cooked into the rule that you can pay a rookie QB that was taken at say pick 7 more than a rookie DE drafted at 7. Or maybe I have that rule exception wrong.
Read the last line. Was being a smart ass like there are a lot of people saying he can play at his age currently.....Thanks for posting this, what a damn good laugh.

Really surprised since Guys like him usually age better
It’s just one year and it’s a transition year. Castellanos was dog shit last year and this year was an All Star. He’ll likely be much better but it still pisses me off.Really surprised since Guys like him usually age better
His approach at the plate has just been garbage. If you’re going to swing at everything major league pitchers aren’t gonna throw you strikes. If you want to hit fast balls you have to lay off breaking shit. It’s almost like he lost 15 baseball IQ points when he came here. I remember a dude who was a pest and worked counts when I saw him as a Nat and a Dodger.I don't think it's age. He was just fine last season.
He's got a solid amount of steals, but the bat hasn't been there this year so far.
Yeah, you're definitely not getting the joke. The point of the joke was to get you riled up with an outlandish take, just to point out the obvious - he's 60. Of course Rice in his prime would be able to play in today's game, and likely have the same output as he did when he played.Sure, but assuming they meant prime Rice wouldn't play today and didn't realize how they sounded, that's taking it too far. Agree on all but that last part. I don't think his numbers would be quite as ridiculously good today, players really are bigger and faster now.Yeah, you're definitely not getting the joke.
