I guess they need to be saved from themselves somehow. The MLB players is a strong union though, won’t happen.
One reason it wont happen is your first comment in a sense. Some owners likely don't want to be saved from themselves and prefer status quo.

What would that look like though?

How do you ''save some owners from themselves'' without limiting/punishing well run organizations?

Do you limit the number of years that a team can sign a player for even though both sides agree that they want the contract?

The Dodgers and Mookie Betts have a contract that keeps him a Dodger until 2032. Chances are, that contract will start having diminishing returns by about 2028, if not sooner. But if he's been a big part of a few World Series trips in that time...the Dodgers likely won't mind paying the back end of that deal.

They are also well run enough that chances are, they will be able to still be a competitive team despite still paying that contract.

I guess it really doesn’t matter what it would look like because the players union is strong enough to prevent it from happening.

Maybe. But my question is more...

Does it really need to happen and if so, why does it need to happen?

From what I have seen, most of the calls for these kinds of things come from fans of organizations that are either poorly run, in smaller markets, or both and usually involve what amounts to limiting/punishing teams that are well run and/or have more money available to them.

I'm not necessarily against having some limits, I'm just not sure it can be done without hurting teams that are better run and/or have more money.

The DH rule means we can just stick him there.

Maybe the terrorists will be able to help Dustin Johnson find his putter again.

@trojanfan12

From the- does anyone else find true lakers fan funny thread (this has nothing to do with TLF, it was just the title of the thread) there might be a new alt on this site.

Found his first post and choice of thread a little odd. Name- smokey95.

Cam Smith was unreal with his putter. They just announced dude had 25 one putts this week! Overall though, I feel like we got let down because of the beautiful conditions at St Andrew’s this week. You shouldn’t have all these low scores at an Open. The British Open is designed for harsh weather making scores more reasonable. Nice final weekend though with some great golf. And on a personal note, I’m glad none of the Terrorist Tour golfers won.
