Anyone see entire Baker Mayfield podcast? I only heard the couple things his critics are complaining about. Someone I know who watched said he was 98% complementary of the browns and most of the show was guys just shooting the shit...not many comments about the Browns. didn't realize it was 90 minutes.

anyone catch it?
Yeah I did. I will just say, I get he feels disrespected but this is a business. Hope he finds a team and has success but at this point he could be settling into a backup role and eventually take over. More motivation for him since that is his thing

I did think the disrespect comment was not needed but was told was pretty much just some dudes shooting the shit and Baker had mostly good things to say about the Browns if he even talked about the Browns. True?

His rookie contract was fully guaranteed. He's also making more than $5M if you count the signing bonus in his annual rate (total of $11.4M this year is his cap hit). His 5th year option for 2023 is $29.7M.
Getting Baker a year sooner saved us $10 mil. so we've got that going for us?

When you are comparing someone who makes millions of dollars a year to play a sport to being a slave, you are diminishing real slavery.

Trying to use it as an analogy to save your failed narrative doesn't change that.

And ftr, you're not nearly as smart as you try to give yourself credit for, so you can drop that bullshit.
People using slave analogies to argue for professional athletes who make millions never gets old.

Waiting for 4/20 to prepare for 4/20. The collectives around here typically have some really good deals on 4/20.

Oh yeah same with my place. Didn't look at what things costs but they always offer some kinda 4/20 ounce special.

Shatter, wax & I think live resin (<--not sure on that one) are all on sale through 4/20. Two grams for $24. The shatter varies between 65 & 81 % THC. Could go to a different dispensary with a higher THC content. But there's no reason for me to do that.

Also, this is part of the rookie contract scale that the CBA argued for. Every NFL QB has gone through this after the latest CBA.

And this isn't just the NFL, the NBA has a rookie-scale contract model also.

...and it's the top rung of the contract scale to boot.

Keep making nonsensical "analogies" that diminish real slavery just to try to save a failed narrative...it's great look for you. :thumb:
Hard to say if that was worse or doubling (tripling and quadrupling) down that a team broke the contract by releasing and not paying a player (other than the guarantee) when the contract states the player can be released and not paid.

I guess take your pick from nonsensical or factually incorrect.

What's your feeling about the game tonight?

Saw yesterday Allen's 50/50. Hope he can play.

No idea what to expect. Hoping not the recent typical game against tough teams where we fall behind early and have to claw back in.

Didn't say I have a problem with it. I said that he is not honoring his contract and his team is., which is true and you have presented nothing to prove differently.

Ultimately, the fix for it remains the same...do a better job during CBA negotiations. The biggest problemfor the players is they have 53 man rosters and some of the guys on that roster don't make enough to weather a prolonged strike. Maybe the guys who are making the real money could set upna fund for the players whomake less to dip into so they can pay their bills during a longer holdout.

That isn’t a realistic fix though.

Because the average NFL career is about 2 years.

So the rank and file are never going to agree to the type of unified player front needed to wrest control back from the owners.

For many, a year hold out means missing out in an opportunity to have an NFL career at all.

Then they need to do a better job negotiating their contract.

Rookie contracts are slotted.

Very little room there.

No issue with Kyler using leverage to get a better deal. If anyone here was in Kyler’s position and had leverage in their side, they would be foolish not to do the same.

Then, they need to wait their turn or they can take their chances like Kyler Murray is.

But that isn't what the discussion was about. If he chooses to hold out, he isn't honoring the contract he signed. Another poster tried to argue that teams don't honor their contracts when that isn't true.

Does he really have leverage though?

That's the gamble on his part. He thinks the Cardinals need him more than he needs them. If the Cardinals agree with him, he'll get his new deal.. If not, he can find himself sitting home and not getting his new deal.

There does seem to be some doubt on the part of the Cardinals regarding his leadership.

No disagreement Murray should use any leverage he has or thinks he has.

Only disagreement I had was with person who said the team that releases a player is breaking their end of the agreement when releasing the player (and only paying the guarantee) is in the contract.
