Kershaw pulled after 7. Vesia came in, got 1 out and then gave up a single. Would've loved to see if Kersh could get his perfect game...but it was the right call, imo.
One of the many things wrong with the game.

Yeah, would love so see him keep going. Can't push him that hard on the first start though, especially with an older pitcher.

Yeah and as the commentators said, the Dodgers are after a bigger prize than an individual accolade, no matter how cool it might have been.

Can't win a World Series in April, but you can lose one if you get the wrong guy hurt doing something unnecessary.

Normally, I might agree. But Kershaw is 34 and has a lot of innings on that arm. Plus, he was hurt last year and has been dealing with various injuries for the past few years. His production has tended to fall off a cliff after the 5th inning for the past couple of seasons as well.

Still would have been fun to see if he could get it, just too risky.

@DJ

You happy about Carr?

This Haskins situation is going to be very hurtful for his wife and family.

Not quite as bad as Mcnair getting killed by his mistress. But, still hurtful and embarrassing.

Meh.

It's just 3 years and not 5 or 6.....I saw it was for 141.5 mill, but not sure what the guaranteed money is.

Before Sandusky....

Yup, really long read but shows more about Paterno’s character and just how powerful the culture was. Unfortunately this is not the only campus things like this happened on.

Anyone see entire Baker Mayfield podcast? I only heard the couple things his critics are complaining about. Someone I know who watched said he was 98% complementary of the browns and most of the show was guys just shooting the shit...not many comments about the Browns. didn't realize it was 90 minutes.

anyone catch it?

admittedly I didn't have much interest at first, but heard it was more like Lebron's show with guys just shooting the shit and joking around. No chance I'd watch the full 90 minutes, but might watch some.

No. Cowherd was talking about it today though. Apparently, he said a couple of things that could indicate that he really hasn't learned anything. But, it could also be seen as being okay depending on what he does.

I guess he said something along the lines of...whatever team he goes to, "I'm gonna just keep being me". If that means he's going to be fighting back with reporters, having drama, etc....it could be a bad thing.

But if it means he's going to stay confident and play that way...it could be good.

Pretty sure it was the latter.

Person I mentioned who watched did say he did not like the comment about being disrespected but his comment about going to people's work and booing was more a joke than anything.

Hell, Seinfeld did it.

news to me...

Got a link...?

Basically, everyone gets a plain Cardinal colored helmet, then through effort and discipline both on and off the field, they earn their gold Trojans logo.

Raesjon Davis who is from Mater Dei got his yesterday. Matt Leinart had stopped by the practice, so they let him give Davis his logo since he also played at Mater Dei.

I like it. Earn your logo...

Hoping that'll help change the culture...

Yep. Recruits at the level USC gets can have a bit of an entitled attitude. Under Pete Carroll "competition Tuesday" took care of that. Gotta let guys know they have to put the work in.

I like it. OSU does this but only for the new guys (earning the stripe, I believe, on back of helmet). Interesting to do it for everyone though I guess this year everyone is new for him.
