Cowherd will put himself out there that’s for sure. The truth is if Lamar loses tomorrow he still hasn’t done much.

I think that is a bit harsh.

At some point, he has to make a deep playoff run and even win a Super Bowl to back up the hardware he has won.

But he is also in a conference with Mahomes, Allen and Burrow.

There just isn’t any margin for error here.

I teach elementary school.

Baseball is definitely a far distance behind basketball and football in popularity.

But there absolutely are plenty of kids still playing and following the sport. And for a lot of the kids who play, they are all in and don’t really play any other sports.

Playing yes, watching not so much.

Also it was mentioned that small market teams have won a title, yes that has happened and then they promptly sold off most of their talent. Which in turn makes fans extremely bitter.

Even a mid market team like detroit (they've been top 5 to 10 in payroll in recent history) has absolutely no shot at retaining Tarik Skubal.

That shit is not good for maintaining fan interest.

It’s gonna be a great game tomorrow, I think he needs to make that SB run (at least making it) this season with Henry still playing very well.

If anything, to overcome the hump that Ravens fans and talking heads often reference, it’s gotta eat at Lamar to some degree.

I don’t know what to tell you.

You are wrong here.

Baseball kids absolutely watch it. They wear baseball jerseys to school all the time and talk about big games.

It isn’t as mainstream as it once was, but there is absolutely still a strong following.

And based on who my baseball kids are?

I would bet that in more rural parts of the country baseball is still very strong and maybe just as popular as ever.

I’m just saying he has been god awful in the playoffs. They are my team, I obviously want him to succeed.

The truth is both Lamar and Allen need to get over that hump. Something going to give.

There is no stats to support this opinion whatsoever.

You are talking like nobody watches baseball at all.

So how about you bring some stats to support your argument?

Because I think you are making it up.

All I know is they aren’t just giving the money away in these huge crazy contracts.

I think it’s mostly conjecture based on your personal relationship with baseball and what interest it garners in your own community.

The fact that the MLB has taken lengths recently to shorten games and adjust some rules I think has to be taken into account, because they wouldn’t do this to lessen interest.

Even that is a very broad argument, personally I think it boils down to “time will tell”.

Last year, I think the biggest fail was the game planning and not Lamar.

The fact that Lamar has been refining his pocket passing and now having Henry, this is their best chance as of yet to succeed.

I never said no one watches it, I said the ages of those who do are higher than basketball, football and soccer.

"Considering that, an important trendline to watch is the rising average age of fans who consume long-form sports content through traditional television. According to Sports Business Journal , the average age of fans watching live MLB, NFL, NHL, and NBA games through TV in 2021 was 57, 50, 49, and 42, respectively. One-third of "engaged" sports fans aged 18-24 prefer to watch highlights rather than full live games. It's difficult to assess what impact, if any, these emerging trends will have on the next round of media rights negotiations, but it's also clear that getting in front of the critical 18-35 demographic will be crucial to ensuring ongoing growth."

I would be worried about the others too though.

Obviously NFL is in good shape, but if the average age is 50 of any sport, it shows that younger people aren’t watching as much.

I think that speaks to how our society has changed than anything else.

Both maybe?

I think it’s fair to say

They didn’t really beat anyone good, but they won a bunch of games

Similar to the Steelers except they did get the ravens once
