Yeah but I watched a few minutes of the game and heard that duke starting qb and running back were in the portal and obviously didn’t play. Once I heard that I stopped watching
Of course missing those guys matters.
But Ole Miss scored at will.
Don’t think that was changing.
Mutliple 1st’s for a guy that hasn’t played a snap in his career and had a serious injury to start his career? Doubt that and I doubt Minny would pick Darnold over JJ long-term after one year. But in Trojan’s example, you get two years of Darnold…more of a sample size in this offense. Still JJ no snaps…multiple 1st’s doesn’t seem reasonable
I agree with the weak QB class part that he said, and what you said here, but I don’t see why Darnold couldn’t have any sort of longevity with the Vikings.
This could very well be a fluke season and next season will be a good measuring stick as I don’t see the Lions or Packers dropping off, but when you have targets like JJ and a young Addison that will most likely get even better, I’d rather take a chance on the guy with experience even if the first years of it were on crap teams, he’s played for long enough to have a strong grasp of the game, the speed of it and everything else and has shown he can throw down with the top teams in the NFC.
OK...but we are talking about a guy who was, what, the 5th QB taken in his own draft coming off a major injury? Who has never had one real play in even a preseason game?
Good points, I guess that’s what the Vikings have to ponder (no pun intended)The cost of Darnold vs the kid is a strategy changer for continuing to build your roster. Darnold will be expensive to keep, and is he really worth that kind of investment? Is Darnold's recent success even sustainable? Still waiting for the other shoe to drop...

Yeah, I think they've tried to remove ponder from their collective memories, lol.
First, that injury is a big deal, and, no, it is not same situation otherwise. some of these QBs will go before the 5th QB taken...maybe even 1st or 2nd.Is that not the exact circumstance for every draftable QB this year (other than the injury)? None of them would be taken higher than he was in last year's draft had they been declared.
Let's not exaggerate the injury either, it's a torn meniscus. He had the surgery, so the recovery should be relatively straightforward. Obviously, they had no need to rush him back this season with Darnold's surprise resurgence.

Sure, there are rumors that fans will eat up that no one in this draft is good enough to go high but wasn't that said of the QBs in the Mahomes draft...well, other than the one who did who was pretty bad (Trubisky)?
How do you know that? at this time last year did anyone think McCarthy was going top 10? Maybe not aware - and, yes, maybe he works out - but QBs are often overdrafted. Guessing it's more likely a 5th QB taken turns into Ponder than a stud.I'm comparing this year's QBs to last year's class, not just where they will be picked this year. How many of the 2025 draft guys would crack the top 10 overall in last year's draft? I'd bet none. Plus, you keep harping on 5th QB drafted, but that was also 10th player overall. Only two of the QBs in this year's class have a prayer of going in THIS YEAR'S top 10, let alone where they would've placed in last year's.
Many of this year's crop could've declared last year but declined. They knew they were inferior to the 1st rounders a year ago (or at least their agents did). Only Ward has the athleticism to possibly crack the top 5 from last year IMO. Sanders is showing terrible pocket awareness and is slipping in draft projections, even in this weaker QB class. Beyond those two, when SHOULD the next QB be picked? 3rd round? Day 3? Millroe is a RB with a big arm thus far. Everyone else projects as a bottom third of the league starter at best, most will be lucky to stick as developmental backups. I do like McCord, but he may not even declare if he gets his 5th year appeal (and I admit some homer tendencies in my McCord ranking lol).
I don't like comparing guys from different drafts especially with all the players being unknowns as NFL products. If Mccarthy would have played one year we would at least have something to go by. Like you said, doubt they trade him and they can ask for whatever they want if they decided to trade him. My opinion I doubt he is worth two 1st's, so nobody is giving up 2 1st's for him.Like I said, I don't think the Vikes want to move him. Their price should be very high to move him as a result. I don't know that anyone would pay that either, but he's likely better than this year's crop of draftable QBs (and perhaps better than next year's crop as well). Maybe not multiple 1sts, but multiple picks including a 1st (and potentially multiple 1sts if that initial 1st is not top 10).
So it’s better having a playoff?
Push back a game is one thing but most people already booked flights, made reservations for hotels and it is past the holidays. It’s not that easy. Not swapping the semi finals is so dumb. ND is at a 2 day disadvantage now when all they had to do was move this game to Friday and put the other semis on Thursday
Irish hurry CFP prep with 2 fewer days than PSU
Coach Marcus Freeman says Notre Dame will treat this week like any other game week but that the Irish have to "expedite the preparation" with two fewer days to get ready than Penn State for the Orange Bowl.www.espn.com
