If that happens, the Chargers would have to be among the favorites for the Super Bowl. They have everything they need except the coach. If memory serves, 7 of their losses were by 3 points or less.

That defense needs some work yet

Plus, the Chargers likely need a RB, potentially a WR (or 2), a TE, OT etc. They need to cut some cost and Ekeler, Mike Williams likely gone.

Upgrades on defense and that's a hell of a start.

Harbaugh is close to a deal with the Chargers.

They are discussing who will be on his staff and who likes to the be new GM.

Yep.

Staley was a complete coaching moron.

Hilarious. The guy that just coached them to 6 straight wins and a narrow loss to the Chiefs despite missing half of his defense is not to blame.

BB is a fossil on the quick decline to the senior center.
They made the AFCCG what seems like a lifetime ago but cannot seem to get past.......the Divisional round.

3 straight losses in the Divisional round......you see a pattern there?

Allen's cap hit about to go from 18 to 47mill......so there goes the ability to really improve your team moving forward.

Yep. Also, if you go for 2 early in the game and don't get it...you potentially put yourself in a position of having to spend the rest of the game chasing points.

Yeah.

Same thing if you go for 2 down 14 and miss it.

It does, you just don't want to hear their logic. At the end they know they need 2 TDs for a chance to win the game. In the beginning they likely feel like the other team will score again, some FGs will be involved by each team, etc. and not as willing to pass up the sure (or more sure) point

And within 5 years teams will be going for 2 much more often.

Because like I said, it makes sense to take the higher value play early in the game also.

This has probably been discussed already but what if they just did away with the XP and kickers only kicked FG’s? Would that mess with scores too much?

My quick math tells me(and I’m horrible at math) I think there would be way less overtimes. Again, could be wrong.

Beltre, Helton and Mauer into the baseball hall of fame. Billy Wagner got 73.4 percent so he should make it next year,

Really solid class.

Mauer is the “new” Hall of Fame member. Instead of looking exclusively at longevity through magic numbers in totals, they now get really dialed in to the peak. How high was the high. For a 4-5 year window, Mauer rivaled some of the best catchers of all time. That was enough to get him in.

Sheffield next in the mid 60s. I thought he was going to make it but he may have maxed out.

He’s the test case for me.

I don’t like that they punish some great players because of baseball’s collective mortal sin of steroids. The people being punished most are Hall of Famers and fans. How can you tell the story of baseball in their eras without having Barry Bonds or Roger Clemens in the Hall of Fame? Shef was linked to steroids if I remember correctly. He was either on the Mitchell report or the Balco depositions. He would be the first crack in these sports writers punishing a handful of people for something all of baseball is responsible for.

@msgkings322 will be here soon. I think baseball may be his favorite sport in the end.

Also catchers are very underrepresented in the Hall. I knew Mauer would get in and Posey is a first ballot lock

Baseball was my first love for sure, now it's pretty even with basketball

It's so simple, put them in the Hall and include the steroids story on their plaques.
