and out come the tin foil hats again

I invoked Liberty as a real example of an undefeated team that didn't deserve their New Years bowl game. It's unnecessary, just a side note. SOS explains all...
You invoked Liberty but it’s unserious and retarded a talking point as one can come up with. It has as much value as me saying the 1989 Irish were the best team in the nation despite having a loss so they should play in the 2023 playoffs.

Alabama was dog shit this year and so was the SEC. Alabama was in a dog fight with S Florida. They benched said QB earlier in the year for poor play. They didn’t earn a benefit of the doubt. Bama’s name and Nick Saban is why they got propped up for that game.

Huge difference between FSU and Liberty.

Alabama was so unworthy that they played the #1 seed to OT. What a tragedy.

FSU would've been curb-stomped.
You're insane.

Before a bunch of players went in the portal (like 20 or so) they had one of the best defense's in the Nation.

It mattering or not is opinion, clearly. Those who make these decisions disagree, which is fact. Rankings have often been adjusted due to injured players and/or strength of schedule. How many undefeated teams have not finished #1 overall?
I can agree opinion involved as you say......my opinion is the committee decides who they want in the CFP and then adjust their narrative to support picking those 4.

Seems to me that's a LOT more on the defense and running game than the 74.8 QB play.
They scored 33 against one of the top defenses in the league. D was decent at best. Gave up 24 (O threw a pick 6 for the rest)

They were dropped out after Alabama beat the then #1 Georgia Bulldogs. If Alabama lost, there would've been no issues for FSU.

Texas/Bama head to head didn't come into play as they weren't the team to get bumped.

When you have tightly contested playoff spots, undefeated on a weaker schedule isn't always going to get it done.

lol

The hell it wasn't. They couldn't include Alabama without Texas because of the head-to-head. That's why Texas was ranked ahead of Alabama.

There was nothing to be "tightly contested" until ESPN started their narrative and the committee decided to change established precedent.

This was set up to be the easiest selection process the committee has ever had. They had 3 unbeaten P5 conference champs and 2 one loss P5 conference champs with a head-to-head...yet they still managed to fuck it up and create controversy.

Had they just followed established precedent, there would have been zero controversy.

Their defense was legit but neither of those QB's could throw a beach ball into the ocean. You aren't competing in the CFP without a QB, plain and simple. You could have Georgia's talent all around and it doesn't matter if your QB is ass.

It sucks what happened to Florida St but lets be for real. They barely beat a bad Florida team.

#3 SOS vs FSU's #50. Enough said.
In the 2021-22 season OSU was 3rd and Cinci was 48th.

Cinci made it

FYI, I didn't think OSU deserved it, but clearly the committee, if SOS is so important, should have.

SOS strongly supports their decision.

If that was all it took, they would've been in the playoffs. Somehow, they weren't? How did that happen? Oh yes, it's a big conspiracy, not a weak schedule.

Liberty was undefeated and ranked too, along with a New Years bowl appearance. They didn't deserve either, as they had the 123rd strength of schedule.
How did Cinci make it in 2021-22 with the 48th ranked SOS?

Cincy a rare case since they got to beat #5 with the backup qb

OK....but why didn't they use SOS in 2021-22 when OSU was 3 and Cinci was 48?

FYI, I didn't object to OSU being left out and expected they would be at time.

To be clear, I expected OSU to be left out.....my comment was to SOS Guy who seems to think it's all about SOS and OSU was 3, Cinci 48

OSU lost two games before the bowls, Cinci was undefeated and beat more ranked teams (2 to 1) than Ohio State. Not quite the same situation.

It's not all about SOS when one team has 2 losses (neither a playoff team) and the other 0. That's a wider gap.

Not much different than Bama's vs. FSU's

If you want it to be so much about SOS, fine, but be consistent.

It's about SOS when it suits you. That's fine. Just say so.

No matter how the SOS came about (OSU'd not losing to a CFP team) it was better than Bama's 50.

If you want it to be so much about SOS, fine, but be consistent. Not sure about poll before CFP but OSU did beat 2 in final poll. Oregon and MSU.

I did miss the MSU outcome when I looked at the schedule, apologies.

2 losses vs 0 is a much bigger gap than 1 vs 0. I also never said it was ALL about SOS, clearly you have to win.

I also messed up as we did not beat Oregon that year.

But I think most would agree OSU was a better team than Cinci and played a much tougher schedule. Cinci got the nod though and it was justified.
