lol

well obviously I'd have rather had MM as a backup over PJ Walker if this is the discussion.

The only debate is whether Flacco would be better. Hard to say but MM has not done much as a pro so any kind of run by Joe would dispel that.

But yes I agree the Browns don't go out and add Flacco if they had MM.
Guess is that is true as I think they'd even have stuck with DTR had he not been hurt.

But either way they are now onto their 4th option and even played 3 games with option 3.

coaching obviously matterse a lot- I was really high on the Browns defense last season- but adding Schwartz this year has been huge---- plus- to be fair- they added a lot of d-line depth/talent which has obviously helped--- but the linebackers and db's are basically the same.

I really hope Schwartz does not get a head coaching job- but despite the injuries the Browns have a historic defense right now so he mmigtht--- but it is kind of out of fashion in the league to elevate older DC's to head coach--- seems like its mostly younger OC's.

Woods was absurdly the wrong coach for their personnel.

You have 3 lockdown aggressive corners and you tie them in knots with your bullshit cover schemes? This is why the D has maintained its performance minus Delpit...the corners are the key to it all.

Ughhh no. The Eagles aren’t responsible for trading away the Browns best backup to give the keys to a rookie. Take some ownership of a shit organization going into a season with a 5th round rookie being the back up QB. That’s poor planning. The Eagles have that guy and Mariota was paid and expressly not traded to protect the QB position. Again…you win a Super Bowl with a back up you tend to value that post. Like I said, the Eagles are better prepared to deal with these things that you’re using for excuses.
The rookie has actually played pretty well other than 1 game but never mind that.

FYI, the backup they "gave away" returned a 5th round pick, Tommy (another lie by you). Team who acquired him dumped him for a 6th. Team before us did, in fact, give him away. Current team has him down to the 3rd string guy.

add another lie for you and more baseless opinions.

OK....but he is still our 4th QB option. Not really debatable.

I actually liked DTR since the Raven game too.

He was the 4th to play. Flacco wouldn't have come to Cleveland to be 3rd string. He only answered the phone because Deshaun got hurt.

Totally agree....but if you told me I could have this roster and Woods or last season's roster and Schwartz I think I'd take the former.

with all the injuries and players our D was awful last year.....yes, Woods didn't help make it better and no doubt last year's team with schwartz would not heve been as bad as it was.

Of course...but was the 4th to play.

But if you'd rather we can forget him and wonder where Philly would be playing their 3rd QB as that is where we'd be now since DTR went down earlier and again.

Glad how it worked out for us...but do feel bad for the kid. I'm guessing we go into next year with him as the #2.

I'd not stand for another year of Woods. Give me Clowney and the shitty DTs.

What is really wild about benching RW is the Broncos still have a shot at the playoffs......even if it is a longshot. They have not been eliminated.

They have a very winnable game vs the Chargers on Sunday.

Nah.

That is because each team only plays 17 games a year. They are far more meaningful than 1 of 82. Even for teams that are out of it.
That matters, sure......but guessing a regular season game of the week in NFL likely gets a better rating than a game 7 in baseball. Maybe the NBA as well.

I get the hatred for Woods but I'll take the players (I mean, we did have a top 10 D with Woods in 2021).

Give me Smith, Tomlinson, Harris, Hurst and Ogbo over Clowney who didn't care, Elliot, Togai, whoever was the awful DT backup, plus the rookie wright.

In addition, we also get JOK, Takitaki and Walker over their backups.

No doubt Woods was just a disaster with how he played the DBs.....but also didn't get the rush he is getting this year with just 4 guys.

This is where I stopped reading. You’re a casual football fan. You don’t post much about the NFL at all. You just started posting about the NFL because the Browns are posting an all time level season for them at 10-5 and being a wild card team. Maddox is often banged up but when healthy he’s widely considered a top 3 slot corner in the NFL. You haven’t earned the right to talk football with me. You’re dismissed.
OK...is banged up but playing the same as out for the year? In some cases nearly the entire year.

Browns also have had some banged up but playing...or worse, banged up but missed a game or multiple game. Like Bitonio, Ward, Newsome, Pocic. all starters but not included on his Browns list.

Cant believe our kicker and punter got hurt in the same week. the punter was playing well- but really- who cares--- Hopkins might be first team all pro this year- that hurts.

Anyone have any news on Hopkins? Do they think he can play in the final regular season game?
Have not heard anything beyond this week....guess possible with a win we can sit a number of guys in week 18 though.

it would be like if i whined about the Browns losing Cam Mitchel. yah- not ideal but gmafb. Now the fact that the Browns nickel corner is Greg Newsome- a former 1st rounder and very good corner- that would actually be a relevant loss- but there is not a team in the league that has the corner trio of the Browns.

however right now they are starting 2 undrafted rookies at safety since their top 3 safeties are hurt- 2 done for the year- the other missed the last few games- so not ideal.
did hear Thornhill practiced yesterday...have not heard game status yet for this week.

You keep saying this about Jok and Takitaki but they both played over 11 games man.

The rush can prove more effective that half second qbs have to take.

I'd obviously take the group this year over last but Woods was a horrendous fit.

Stop tagging me. I don’t give a fuck about any football opinion you maintain. You’re a front running causal and you don’t know anything about the sport
He's smacking you around with facts, too vs. your baseless opinions.

FYI, it's easy to ignore if tagged. Just need a little self control.

I believe they can trade him this offseason and the cap penalty won’t be too bad but you need a replacement.

Strange bc he has really improved this season from last. With no other option, that doesn’t make sense. They gave up picks and players for Wilson and Payton. One year and that’s it? Seems strange
Maybe Payton and his ego wants his own guy? all I got.

I think Payton wants his own guy that can grown in the system.

Honestly- I think a lot of these coaches- Stefansk included- like guys who play under center and do not rely on free-wheeling.

I think Watson can be successful- but his whole career has basically been in shotgun- which totally negates the play action- and his best success is usually scrambling and hitting guys.

Wilson has always been small- and relied on athleticism and breaking the pocket. I dont think thats what Payton wants. Honestly- I dont think its what is ideal for our guy Stefanski either.

I think the big armed pocket QB that uses play action is more ideal-- obviously Payton made Brees work but that is obviously a big time outlier.
a lot of this is true....but I suspect stefanski had a lot of say/pull in going after watson and knew what he was getting. Other than so many injuries.

That's fair, but missing 6 games is still a lot. Plus the beyond awful DTs and backups.

If you want to tell me schwartz does better (perhaps a lot better) with both groups you'd get no disagreement from me. also hoping he is not lured as a HC.....though possible doesn't even want it.

with previous health issues possible he does not want the hassle of being a HC again.
