Mother fucker, this Eagles season is just a lost opportunity. The league is wide open. The offensive pieces are good enough to score 30+ PPG but the coaching performance on that side of the ball has been uninventive, stale, and problematic. They have won 11 games in spite of the coaching vs the toughest schedule in the league. The talent is there. Can’t say the same on the defensive side of the ball where system arrogance led them to believe that because they’ve found undrafted players and guys others quit on to bolster their LB and S plan that they can just do that every year. It’s a damn gamble to run the team that way and this year it bit them in the ass. The DC change to Patricia has made them more competitive on defense in these games but it’s a bandaid on a head wound. In order to beat an elite team, because of that defense, there is no room for error on offense where they need to score on 75% of possessions.

The frustrating part is that the pieces are good enough. Been waiting all year for them to fix the issues and kick it into gear and yet it doesn’t happen. 15 football games this year. I’m pissed after all 15 games. I have not enjoyed a single Eagles game this year and that breaks my spirit and my soul. So frustrating.

Despite it being a crazy week in the NFL, not much has really changed. The Niners are still the class of the NFC. The Cowboys showed again that they can’t go on the road and can’t go on grass and beat a good team. With the schedule for the Eagles to close, there’s like less than a 10% chance Dallas can win the division. Can that team that hasn’t beaten a good team on the road go and win 3 road games to get to the Super Bowl? Doubt it highly. The Eagles still have issues on defense and can’t get out of their own way on offense. The Lions got 4 turnovers and were still in a dog fight vs a Vikings teams with Nick Mullens that by the time you get to the second half didn’t have Addison or Hockenson. They still gave up 411 yards in the air. Goff is still Goff. Able to make some plays but not able to win games for you putting the team on his back.

The AFC to me is still wide open. It’s going to come down to health and matchups in each playoff contest. I envision some weird shit happening in the AFC playoffs.

Offensive line wasn’t great to begin with and they got banged up last night. I think all of their 8 dressed OL had to play in the game last night. They also lack depth at the skill positions. The offensive scheme really struggled when Deebo was out. He was the example this year, but every one of their elite pieces of skill people need the other to get optimum results. Ayuik, Deebo, Kittle, CMC. Even fucking Kyle Juscwezk is irreplaceable in that group.

I’m nit picking an elite team for sure. I agree with your premise. It’s the best roster in the NFL when healthy. Shanahan’s scheme which leans on run and run action in pass game is a god send for NFL OL. OL would much rather run block than pass block and it’s ideal to be able to pass block when the defense can’t pin the ears back and just think pass too. The Niners have shown a willingness to run the ball (successfully) even on downs like 2nd and 15 and 3rd and 7/8.

Yeah, admittedly I though the OL was better than it really is.

You see how well they run the ball, but Trent Williams is just a machine and CMac hits the hole so decisively that he can make the most out of any run.

Also, like you said, their offensive scheme is just outstanding and fits their personnel very well.

Last night was another reminder that you can make any QB (even Tom Brady) look less than when you have them under constant pressure. That’s why these DL get paid so much. In the modern NFL, there’s no greater asset on defense than an ability to get to the QB while only rushing 4.

Agreed.

Been seeing that with Mahomes all season.

That being said, the flip side is that guys like Brock Purdy (who is a pretty good QB) tend to get overrated when constantly throwing from a clean pocket to open receivers.

Well, aside from SF.

I do believe there are a couple teams who could step up and get them if Purdy struggles.

But that SF team is the most complete roster I have seen in a long time. Just not sure what their weaknesses are.

lol

Chris Simms gave him some shit about it this morning on PFT that was pretty funny.

He said he was getting requests from Steelers fans for Florio to say the same about their team. Then says "Maybe we can pick one team a week you can do that for?"

It is what it is. Browns at 10-5 are the poster child for that. It’s just an amalgamation of mediocre.
Or you could stop fixating on the Browns successful season without so many top players and just look at all the games between the AFC and NFC?

Or you could keep dying on that hill with nothing factual to back your points. I choose this option as it's free comedy.

I’ll take 10 wins all day with half their roster depleted. I would love to see how many wins Philly had with half their roster no starting QB and RB. 11 wins with a healthy roster in a mediocre conference.

Now that is funny

He really is reaching here after saying he was done with this discussion.....again.

Not really sure why.....if we could be mostly healthy and win a weak conference to get to the SB I'd definitely take that in a heartbeat. I mean, I'm not looking for the Tribe to leave the AL Central.

if the Eagles had the same health issues as the Browns- the Browns would destroy them. Yes. Destroy.
