The Browns are playing their 4th option at QB so who is 2 behind Mariota?

Never mind debatable at best Mariota would be better than Flacco.
Flacco was retired and only signed up for a limited season. If the Browns don’t lose multiple QBs he isn’t even a thing.

It's still off base, though, as to lose QBs like the Browns they'd need to lose Hurts, Mariota and his backup (Stidwell?).
Ughhh no. The Eagles aren’t responsible for trading away the Browns best backup to give the keys to a rookie. Take some ownership of a shit organization going into a season with a 5th round rookie being the back up QB. That’s poor planning. The Eagles have that guy and Mariota was paid and expressly not traded to protect the QB position. Again…you win a Super Bowl with a back up you tend to value that post. Like I said, the Eagles are better prepared to deal with these things that you’re using for excuses.

I've said it half a dozen times this year teams are being way too reckless with backup qb.

Browns got lucky with Flacco so far. Most years you're fucked if you can't find a trade or have a good backup already.

And this is where I say the trade deadline is too early.

If anything a late deadline helps bad teams. Jacoby Brissett goes for a 3rd rounder probably....or maybe Washington says let's get something for our investment since our year is done anyway.

Sometimes people think other teams don’t deal with injuries. The Eagles have lost 4 LBs and 4 Safeties this season and they’re paying for it. Eagles fans are critical of the GM ( a better established GM with a legit Super Bowl track record than the Browns GM) for leaving those groups poorly constructed. Injuries are a way of life in the NFL. That’s why you need depth if you have big goals.

All teams in the NFL have big goals, you seldom see teams trading away their future for anything. Anyone can build and win unless they are complete dumbasses, and they exist. The NFL model should be the model for all sports in my opinion.

You can't be serious with that last bit. Anything different about the NFL and building teams there? Rhymes with 'Mallory fap'

The NBA has one too, theirs is just idiotic. You don’t have much when you can’t make money as a league unless certain teams are good.

If you’re talking long term big goals, I agree. But only about a third of the teams in the league are in a Super Bowl window in any given year.

I mean, baseball has a luxury tax and stuff. But only the NFL has a hard cap (because of a weak union among other things) so they can engineer a league where there's a lot of parity and all markets can build winners. They also benefit from non guaranteed contracts which in a league with so much injury is a disgrace.

But the teams on the list shift far more often and quickly than the other sports

I guess the huge number of players is a factor with the NFL. I think the real disgrace is what teams have to do to be competitive in the NBA. Tanking and charity trades shouldn’t be the go to moves. Maybe it’s just me.

I still find it more disgraceful that NFL players do all they do to play in the league and the minute their knee blows out they stop getting paid, and have to get jobs as assistant high school coaches to feed themselves. Because the rank and file doesn't make a lot of money after taxes and fees. Maybe it's just me.

I think things are getting better for the players. All I know is when an nfl game is on it doesn’t matter who is playing, it is being watched. Part of that is competitive balance.

Obviously. Although how many watch does vary with some stinkeroo games.
Part of that is competitive balance.
And that balance is built on the backs of stiffing the players. But the result is good if you don't think about that part.
