I'm sold on that, too.

I think the Browns need to stay in the top 5 and play AFC South winner in WC round to advance. while I do think we can beat anyone (or lose to anyone) I cannot see us winning a game on the road in KC or Miami/Buffalo.
This is the season they could. The AFC is pretty wide open....all the top teams have shown they can be vulnerable.

As long as Flacco doesn't throw 2 or 3 picks....gotta limit the turnovers and not have Flacco sling it 40-plus times.

Play defense, run the ball and throw 28-30 times. Not 40-44.

I don't know. I wouldn't rule out them winning on the road in those places. Defense travels and they have a good one. And while they are on their 4th QB, it just so happens that he's got a lot of experience and has won a Super Bowl. If nothing else, they're not going to face anything he hasn't already seen.

If their running game is any good, they are very similar to the Ravens team Flacco won his Super Bowl with.

According to espn the Browns are 10th in the league in rushing (123.7). They're 4th in the AFC.

Exactly, whether FSU beats Georgia or not, doesn't change the fact that as an undefeated P5 champion, FSU should have been in the playoff.

The funny thing is that after all the years of controversy and bullshit...going all the way back to the BCS...this should have been the easiest one to get right.

You had 3 undefeated P5 conference champions and two 1 loss P5 conference champions who had a head-to-head.

You go with the 3 undefeated teams and the team that won the head-to-head.

Yet somehow, the committee managed to fuck it up and create what may be the biggest controversy we've had.
Agree on this post until this line. This isn't a fuck up, it's working as intended. Controversy, endless talk and attention, and Alabama on the TV in the playoff. $$ always wins. It's the NCAA.
Amen on the 12-ream playoff.
Honestly 8 would be plenty but I'm hardly the target consumer.

There's no sanctity or honor or consistency. It's money spent over a game.

True.

8 is what I've always suggested it should be since playoff talk started getting serious. Auto-bids for the P5 conference champs, and 3 wild cards for other deserving teams (like UGA this year) and maybe the occasional G5 school.

But I'm not going to complain about a couple of extra playoff games. lol

If the Steelers fire Tomlin the Browns should fire Stefanski and hire him.

I'll drive from CO. to Pittsburgh to pick Coach Tomlin up in a limo for that.
save the miles as they wont and shouldn't get rid of Stefanski.

the O-line is just so beat to hell though.

Seems like its trending towards Stroud being out this Sunday in Houston-- but Keenum is no pushover. The defense needs to show up on the road- which they have not done in recent road games.

Hopefully Ward is back closer to healthy- I think he only played less than half the plays last week and is still def. beat up. It would be nice to get Thornhill and Walker back too- though I do not know what their statuses are.

While it stinks losing Hurst and Okoronkwo- Wright made some plays last week and it seems Elliot is getting closer to full health.

Give this team Delpit, Chubb, Dawand, Conklin, and Obo healthy- and I would put a bet on them to win the AFC. lol.
Absolutely....I'd even give us a chance if we could just get the guys back who have been hurt but not yet ruled out for season.....like Ward, Thornhill and all the OLman.

I'm sure they want to run more but will not keep running when they are getting less than 3 ypc like last week......also needed to throw a lot late since behind.

agree.....but so far the D has not traveled for us. They have been really bad in most road games.

Not so sure how much it's about money as the money is already agreed upon no matter who is in the CFP,.........for years to come. No matter the opponents.

The ratings on the talk shows are all higher with controversy, and Alabama gets far better ratings than FSU which affects renewals and stuff. If it's not money, what other motivation is there?

I can agree controversy helps the discussions...but there would have been controversy no matter who they chose. The renewals are years down the line and a different format so cannot see that mattering. By this logic, will they not vote the best teams in the top 4 next year so they have to play as opposed to getting a bye? I don't think so.

Just my opinions.

Again, what's the motivation then for Alabama over FSU if not money?

At this point ESPN has gone so overboard they are losing money hand over fist. I saw a deal that claimed they would have lost an additional $150 million if FSU had been in instead of Alabama. Things will reset when the system consumes itself. As for college football we are nearing that point I believe.

What does this mean exactly?

Obviously college football is going through tremendous change. Feels like it's not long before it's simply a professional minor league for the NFL. They'll keep the colors and team names but players will all be paid and some can presumably opt to get degrees too. I'd like to see them detach from the rest of the college sports so they can go back to regional conferences that make so much sense for the other sports.

Because ESPN loves them some SEC and I do believe the voters have a bias toward previous seasons (even though not ESPN workers) and results, which they shouldn't.

When I say it will consume itself I mean the system will be forced to change. We have rich people thinking they can buy titles for their program. Eventually when they are approached for a million for a specific player they are going to say hey, why have the last 3 I gave you money for never done anything and aren’t even here anymore? Contracts are needed and they will come. Espn is losing hundreds of millions of dollars, so much that they have gotten rid of a lot of real talent. The entire college football system will reset at some point, economics will demand it.

Not even sure what you mean by consumes itself.....but agree wont be long before it's more like the NFL with 2 conferences (but not called AFC and NFC) that matter.
