Yeah, I love bowl season, but it just feels like too many now. There was a time when I would manage to not miss a single bowl game...there are so many now, I'd lose my job and probably my wife if I tried to watch them all. lol

I do like that they provide extra practices and a game for those kids who are coming back. With Caleb sitting out USC's bowl game, I'm looking forward to seeing what Miller Moss can do.
Oh yeah, anyone who says there aren’t enough bowls is in marketing or a school booster. Lol

I don't know about cancelled, but there are several that could go away and no one would care or probably even notice. Part of the problem, imo, is that it's becoming more and more common for players to skip bowl games that they don't feel are "important enough" to avoid injury going into the draft.

I'd like to see that trend reversed, but I doubt it will be unless those paying NIL money start tying that to the money.

It's a tough one though. Caleb Williams isn't playing in USC's bowl game...if I knew him and could offer an opinion, I'd tell him that the number of players who participate in their teams bowl games and get injured to the point that it effects their draft status is actually very low and that he owes it to his teammates to play.

But then, if he ended up being one of those who suffered that kind of injury... :L

several?

lol look at the bowl lineup

if it was me id take the 13 through 24 teams and have them play for some kind of also ran trophy

and fuck everyone else. everyone else can sit at home after November.

It's been a long time, so I can't remember how many there were when I used to be able to watch all of them. There are what... 41? 43 bowl games now?

I'd like to get back to closer to whatever the number was back then. I get that they are rewards for the players and that coaches love them because of the extra practices, but sometimes, less is more.

I have no way to prove it, but I'd be willing to bet that fewer players would sit out bowl games if we didn't have so many.

My thought is...43 bowl games means 86 teams out of what...120? make a bowl game. We have more football teams in bowl games than we do basketball teams in March Madness and some folks say that tourney is too big.

Imo, fewer bowl games would make getting into one a bigger accomplishment and would maybe restore some of the "importance" of making one.

I have to think these bowl games somehow make money otherwise they'd go away. 10,000 people showing up to some random game on December 16, plus the TV revenue for that, does that really make a profit?

I'm not sure. I can only assume that the money they get just for being able to say they sponsor a bowl game makes up for it. Because yeah, I can't see how, for example a bowl game like the one on right that started at 11:30am on a Monday and appears to have fewer than 10,000 in the stands is profitable otherwise.

Although, I have to say, it's actually turning into a pretty good game. lol

Right the naming rights probably are enough, that's why most bowls are simply named after commercial products, it's just another advertisement and that must be profitable enough.

Obviously they could not have predicted this- but overall - Disney has really done a terrible job with Marvel over the last few years.

To be honest- I havent watched a whole lot of them since then- just not interested- but Guardians 3 was good- and probably only was good becasue of the director- James Gunn- who Disney tried their best to get rid of- but couldnt since a decent amount of the cast said they would not return if he was not brought back.

Endgame really was an end to an era in a lot of ways.

Why isn't anyone smart enough to realize bowl games should be canceled?
