Or more specially they choose not to pay their good players.
Correct, and even that is sometimes understandable. I can understand not paying Lindor $300 mil+ but needed to go all out to win while they had him and when they lost him replace his salary with talented players (like Nats did when Harper left). By all out, of course, I mean spend league average. Letting Brantley go when he wanted a reasonable deal was a fail as well as not going after some other affordable OFers.

Will say, at least, the FO seems to do well when they deal these players.

The WR's are not very good and they let Cook walk. Receiving is not a strength.....especially with Thomas recovering from surgery.

And I said if they trade Thomas like BKS said they should.

They have one of the best defenses in the NFL and perhaps the most dynamic backfield.

With how they use Kamara in the passing game, they can survive without WRs.

They were one of the best in the NFC last year playing without Michael Thomas and with a very limited WR corps.

Brees completed nearly 71% of his passes and had a TD-INT ratio of 4-1. Good luck going from that to Winston.

Yes.

And he couldn’t push the ball downfield his last 2 years because his arm was shot. So he was limited to short throws and check downs

He is smart as they come, so he was able to manage the game well. Jameis is kind of the opposite of that.

But, he can push the ball downfield to keep the defense honest and he does have a lot of talent around him, even if not in the WR corps.

I expect the Saints to contend for a playoff spot this year with Jameis. But, Jameis doesn’t need a 5-1 TD/INT ratio to succeed because he can hit big plays that weren’t available to Brees.

Ok and he doesn't have to be Brees. Why are you acting like Winston is always some turnover machine? He had seasons with 11,14, and 15 int. 2019 wasn't his only season as a starter

Because he is. Here's a recap.

2019: (16 games) league leading 30 int's

2018: (9 games) 14 int's

2017: (13 games) led the league with 15 fumbles (I'm sure not all those fumbles where turnovers, but some had to be drive killers)

2016: (16 games) 18 int's

In 70 starts (72 total games played) with the Bucs he threw 88 int's. And in those 72 total games he fumbled 50 times. Here are his combine int's & fumbles each season.

2015- 21
2016- 28
2017- 26
2018- 21
2019- 42

42 is much higher than the other 4 which is my point

I'm going by what he career totals say. But if you think '19 was his only bad season you're choosing to ignore his other numbers. You already said you don't think he's a turnover machine. Three times in five years he threw more int's than TD's. And in '17 when he had more TD's (19) than int's (11) he led the league in fumbles (15).

Think you're missing my point. I never mentioned anything about his tds. I can live with low 20s combined turnovers. 42 turnovers isnt happening been one of my only points

Do you think 2019 was his only bad season in with the Bucs? Just remember you said this, and it's incorrect- why are you acting like Winston is always some turnover machine. Because he is. The numbers prove it.

Here's the thing with Winston, chances are, no matter how good he becomes, he's likely to be a "turnover machine" to some degree for his entire career because he's got some gunslinger in him. Similar to Favre.

For Winston to be at his most effective, he has to be able to go off script and force the ball to his receivers at times. Because of that, he's going to turn the ball over some.

What Favre did that Winston has yet to do, is he learned to cut back on that by being more disciplined and understanding he can't always force the ball in and being more selective about when he tries to.

Basically, with his talent, if Winston can learn to "reign himself in a little", he could be a very good quarterback.

Pretty clear the point im making is that he won't turn the ball over nearly as much as he did in 2019 so unless you're telling me he will have close to 40 turnovers then this is another irrelevant convo. Let me guess you didn't see my post where I stated im expecting low to mid 20s turnovers from him right?

No I saw what you said. Just remember what you said in comment # 4406 though. Like I said it's incorrect. You only wanna focus on one season. And ignore the other bad seasons he's had.

Carson Wentz is not supposed to be my problem anymore. But he gets hurt and now he is. The deal had a provision where if Wentz played 70 or 75% of the snaps the two they sent Philly becomes a 1.

They really need that pick to confer to a one. The Jalen Hurts experiment is a failure waiting to happen. They will need as many assets as possible to either deal for DeShaun Watson or to move up and select a 2022 QB. Truth be told, I think the Eagles already screwed the pooch on the QB position. I think hindsight will reveal that Justin Fields is a better prospect than any of the other QBs that will be available in the 2022 draft. I think he is a better prospect than Howell and Spencer Rattler who are the two names projected to be at the top of the QB board next year. Devonta Smith is a great player and I think he will be a plus pro. But does it matter if you don’t have a competent QB getting him the ball? Birds should have drafted Fields at 10 instead of Smith in my humble opinion (alright, I’m never humble).

They were killed for passing for a while, but I have to believe the guy getting hurt a lot in college played a part in the Browns not picking him.

Hope you are right your team regrets passing on Fields as obviously rooting for the kid. Have to think a few teams are still kicking themselves over passing on Allen (Bills and Denver, for sure).
