Better by your opinion. Any perceived excitement and increased stolen bases is done so artificially. As someone who played the game up thru high school, I hate it. All in the name of offense...
It’s not all in the name of offense, it’s what was needed to have any prayer of saving the sport. I happen to think the increased steals are helping with more teams playing small ball now.

Better by a significant majority of fan opinions. Some people hate change.

Some people hate changing national pastimes to appease millennial attention spans.

...which is offense, right? What help has their been for defense/pitching? Pitchers are getting frisked between innings. Defensive shifts have been capped at the knees (this one I'm OK with lol), etc.

You know what helps pitching? The pitch clock. Working fast helps the pitcher, no more adjusting wristbands and gloves and stepping out of the box every pitch.

I haven’t seen the numbers but it seems like I’ve seen guys pitching deeper into games.

Actually I doubt that part. We're still in the new era of only 5 innings expected. No one wants the pitcher to go 3 times through the order.

Another thing I've heard is pitchers might be getting a bit more injured due to the unfamiliar pace but I haven't seen data on that.

The pitch clock didn't seem to be an issue during yesterday's game, but I don't know that it felt any quicker. The extra innings rule is just stupid IMO; it's forced and unnatural. Just let the game be what it has always been.
I think in the current use of the rule that the home team gets more of an advantage than they would normally have. The home team knows what they have to play for. If I’m on the road, I can’t bunt that man over to 3B. I need to save outs in hopes of generating an inning. When I’m the home team, I know what I need. If I just need one run, I can sacrifice the runner over to set up the sacrifice fly and to force infield in to create better angles to shoot a single through. I like @msgkings322 idea of letting the 10th play as usual. I would even extend it to the 11th as well. Then come the 12th you put a runner at 2B. At the same time, I think the players like it because 162 is a grind already. Psychologically, the idea of the 17-18 inning game scenario is daunting. In the past, when we get there, it’s often a guy who is the least reliable in the pen having to pitch 4-5 innings or worse yet a position player. It’s garbage baseball at that point.

Agreed it gives the home team a larger advantage. Nothing wrong with that.

They already have built in advantages though as the home team is what I’m saying. This makes it more pronounced.

Saw this the other day, home field advantage has actually gone down with the new rules

I actually like it because 14+ inning games are stupid. But they didn't need to start it off so quick in the 10th. They should let the 10th be traditional then start in the 11th. I like the pitch clock too, the game is much more enjoyable at the quicker pace.
Yeah no issue especially since it is a regular season rule

I agree it should not be the rule for extra innings in the postseason...are we sure it isn't?

For the most part, I like the changes. The game had reached a point where it seemed like it was a home run or nothing. Not a lot of strategy.

Now, more teams are stealing bases and hitters seem more willing to "pass the baton" to score rather than everyone swinging for the fences or striking out.

I like that the games are faster. I don't like the NL having the DH because it takes away one of the bigger decisions that managers often have to make.

I also don't like starting extra innings with a guy on 2nd. It's not fucking tee ball.

Seems that way to me too and that's with Dave Roberts whose biggest issue, imo, is that he pulls guys too early.

Did I complain about the pitch clock?

I agree on the strategy part, the whole focus on launch angles etc was creating an all or nothing result. That said, that focus was based on newer thinking due to over-reliance on data analysis. Small ball, hitting the other way and/or bunting (a combination of which could've killed the extreme shifts immediately with no rule changes necessary), etc. are all classic parts of the game that were largely phased out by unnecessary changes to the game, albeit from a coaching aspect instead of rule changes.

I hate the DH altogether. If you're playing, you should be hitting and fielding your position.
