why? The Haslams have proven IF they have a FO they trust they will let them do their work AND they are not shy about spending even in a small market.
Mike Tyson in a wheelchair ....
Damn.
yes and not a whole lotWas this iteration of the Cleveland Browns an expansion franchise that started in 1999? Have they done anything of note in that time?
I think we are on the same page then. The rest is just the semantics. It has nothing to do with where the franchise goes from here. It’s just that this group has to prove themselves.yes and not a whole lot
Yep....and I'm sure nearly every fan base who lost their team wishes their fans stepped up like ours did and guaranteed us a team before the old one walked out the door.Reasons aside (and obviously the owner was shady as hell), it's still a brand new franchise. No member of the previous Browns carried over unless let go by the Ravens (if that happened?). Everything started over, all they kept was their record book. Well, the unis and name too (if that's a good thing lol)...
I wouldn't even say it's a rosy view. I don't really care for the guy and wish any talking would be done by his wife, Dee. But he's what I want in an owner who owns a team I cheer for...IF he has a FO he trusts he is usually in the background, lets them to their jobs and writes the checks whenever asked. From an outsider's perspective, it seems the Haslems continue to hire the wrong guys in most cases? The spent huge on a player they knew would anger at least half of their fan base. I don't believe most of the sports world has the same rosy view of Haslem that you do...
There is no doubt he made some mistakes and the team struggled when he first started.....of course, he inherited a complete mess, as well. Was a long time ago, of course, but the Rooney's didn't figure things out quickly.Jimmy has also proven he's done some pretty stupid things as owner of the Browns. His past shouldn't be ignored.
From wkyc- new report details Cleveland Browns' dysfunction under Jimmy Haslam
As long as he stays outta the way things will be fine. If he doesn't then it'll be a potential issue for the Bucks. But I really don't see that happening. Wanna believe Haslam learned his lesson. But ya never know.
No doubt about that.....it's not saying much but they have so far been better than any regime here since the late 80s (which includes a regime with Belichick, Pioli, savage, Ozzie, Saban, Frerenz, Dimitroff, etc.I think we are on the same page then. The rest is just the semantics. It has nothing to do with where the franchise goes from here. It’s just that this group has to prove themselves.
And Johnny Unitas who is all ColtsYep....and I'm sure nearly every fan base who lost their team wishes their fans stepped up like ours did and guaranteed us a team before the old one walked out the door.
Just an odd dynamic. I mean, I'm sure the fans in Bmore associate Burt Jones with their team and not Jim Brown.
Free agent WRs haven’t been lining up to play with Jackson either. The GM can’t come out and say that though.
Was talking to a poster on the NFL forum the other day about this year’s WR FA being kind of weak. He said that’s been the norm of late. He posted the last 4 years of FA at WR and he was right. It was very underwhelming. The big guys like Davante Adams and Tyreke Hill were trades.Free agent WRs haven’t been lining up to play with Jackson either. The GM can’t come out and say that though.
So hard to project. If we’re doing that, we’re also giving him modern ideas on nutrition, strength training, speed training, about 6-7 seasons of 7 on 7 before he ever gets to college, etc…. I take this projection stuff way too seriously because there are too many variables to consider and if the right 3 or 4 variables aren’t there Johnny U is maybe Chad Henne. Or maybe he’s Jim Kelly. Or maybe he’s Tom Brady. Johnny U used to Fucking install carpet in the off season to supplement his income. I think he would be great though.Wonder what he'd do in todays pass-happy league?
