...if your team is on the right side of it. I thought Syracuse had a young, developing secondary to build on this year. Their top DB is going pro and the next two are in the portal. They lost their #1 WR midseason to the portal in a past season. It sucks.
I hate it as a Virginia fan.
However, it is what is best for kids. And that matters most.
All the draconian NCAA rules of the past were designed to preserve power and control the money. They definitely did not serve the kids who were out there doing all the work that brought the money in.
Teaches the kids right off the bat that your word is worth nothing and chase that money. The value of the education is already dismissed since finishing 4 years is seen as a weakness.
BS.
You and I both know that student athletes are committing to the coaches that recruit them more than the institution.
Those coaches move, the kid gets screwed under the old system.
Now I agree, the pendulum has shifted in way that is easy to exploit.
But if you don’t think those same types of issues were happening illegally before, than you have blinders on.
These kids jumping ship from Syracuse have not lost their coach. They're using Syracuse as a springboard. Midseason portal shouldn't exist at the very least.
