Agree. Funny thing about that one is that you could actually see him saying something like that. lol
It includes too much awareness of cultures likely foreign to him, like the Beatles and Red Rocks lol.

Just got Justin back from the IL too. Dustin May is nearing a return to the rotation. Things are rounding into shape as they attempt to lap the Padres LOL. Just need Buehler back (and continued improvement from the bullpen).
Padres just made the investment into making the tournament. No way they had serious intentions of catching the Dodgers in the standings. Anything can happen in a 7 game series.Starting to feel a little sorry for the Padres. They've made quite a few moves and spent a lot of money over the past few seasons trying to catch the Dodgers and so far, it hasn't worked. Hasn't really come very close either.
What’s scary is that they’re playing 41-19 ball since they shit canned Girardi and they’ve done a great deal of that with the reigning NL MVP on the disabled list.Phil’s used a 3 run 8th vs Alcantara to erase a 3-1 deficit to win 4-3. It’s the Marlins sure but they did it off of a guy who very well could be NL Cy Young.

Series broke my heart. My grandfather was a Philadelphia A’s fan and always lamented the A’s leaving and not the Phillies. I loved that Bash Brothers team as a middle schooler. My dad used to taunt me with shit about steroids (and my prediction that Ricky Jordan would be NL MVP someday haha) and those guys so for a week in quiet moments he would just give me the Gibby fist pump and limp haha. Had to have been a great series and moment for Dodgers fans. And the first thing that happens is the Dodgers sweep them in a series where they outscore them 20-5. That doesn't exactly instill confidence.
You're right though. 1 hot pitcher and a few timely hits can carry a team a long way. I'm convinced that the Dodgers World Series drought was the baseball gods making them pay for 1988.

Not sure how far we can go this year but get in and who knows? It's baseball.Guardians took over sole possession of first place tonight......I think that is the first time all season unless I am mistaken.
Pretty cool for such a young team that was really not supposed to contend this year.
ESPN picked them as the 20th best team in the Majors preseason
SportingNews picked them last in the division with 67 wins.
most of the other sites pick just division winners---- i could not find one site that had the Guardians higher than 3rd in the division - and most had them 4th or last.
People knock the worth of managers---- but Terry Francona is still maybe the best manager in the game- and the stable front office knows how to put a team together on a small budget.
Also- having an ace in Bieber, a stud closer in Clase, and a perennial high level all star in Jose is a great place to start from.
I cant overstate how valuable Karinchak has been since he has been back healthy. Morgan started faltering after an amazing first half and Karinchak looks like the guy he was from last seasons first half.
I dont know many teams that can throw guys like Karinchak in the 8th and Clase in the 9th. After the more rigid enforcement over stickum for pitchers, and his injury- Karinchak was a huge question mark after his poor finish last year after in incredible first half. Lets hope he has figured it out and stays this good.
If he does- and the Guardians can somehow stave off much bigger payrolls and win-now teams in the White Sox and Twins--- they have a punchers chance with Bieber, McKenzie--- and Karinchak andClase in the 8th and 9th.
I think the unknown is why you keep complaining about it.That's because you guys do it all here for some unknown reason.
No disagreement.Most people would.....LOL.
Yep....because he had the money AND would spend it.Gilbert is the only guy to get the trophy but he had the lightning rod that was LeBron.

But also…fuck you so here’s some Matt Stairs rips one into the night to close.

But I'm good getting far more for the money where I live and not having traffic jams 24/7.

For sure the future looks bright....even brighter if Dolan has a pulse in the offseason with Blitzer as an investor and eventual new majority owner.
as for Tito. He's definitely among the best though I think most managers are the same when it comes to on field (give them talent they can win. don't and they wont). I think Tito's best attribute for MLB might be players want to play for him.
I generally agree with your take that coaches, especially in pro sports don't make quite as much difference as folks often want to give them.
But I disagree a bit when it comes to baseball. In baseball, things like pulling a pitcher an inning too early or too late (or heck, even a batter too early or too late) can cost a team a game or even a series.
True, but he also spent it to keep the other players and set what was at the time a record for the sport in spending.Well, he had the option to spend it on Lebron. That's not something available to everyone.
