I know we don't discuss golf much but the whole LIV league is fools gold. When something makes zero sense financially it is doomed to fail. 400 million for 14 tournaments? Golf is not popular like that unless it's a major. And it certainly doesn't carry enough water to shell out 30 to 40M per tournament.
And there’s a certain segment of fan who actually does watch golf that are like me and won’t support an attempt by terrorists to change their well earned image of being monsters. I’ll never watch any of their events. Guys like DJ and Phil are dead to me now.

Will be tough if they eventually merge.

If the PGA merges with the Saudi Royal family that would be the day I check out on watching golf.
I get it but I can’t blame any of these guys. The pga doesn’t have the best history themselves.

I don’t know about that. These guys aren’t exactly starving. It isn’t like this was their only option. If it’s me, I’d like to think that I’m going to stand on my own abilities and make 2-3 million of earned money playing on the tour plus what all my sponsorships can bring.

The pga is not evolving with the times. I saw where purses were up like 1 percent since 2014 before all of this. Now they have had to react. Really no different than any other sport offering guarabteed contracts. The pga wants to act like the players are employees but they don’t want to pay them like employees. On the LIV the players get their expenses paid as well, much like pro athletes. Changes are coming, thay usually do when money is at stake.

I see this one from both sides. A high priced LB is a luxury for a team competing for a title. Bears aren’t there yet. At the same time, they have a cheap QB and now is the time to pay those other aspects of the roster. From Smith’s perspective, he’s one of the best LBs in the NFL and has earned a big deal. Shit, I’d love to see him in Eagles green. 3 down LBs that can cover backs and TEs AND stop the run don’t grow on trees.

Word coming out of Redskins camp is that Wentz hasn’t had a good camp thus far. That’s a relief for Eagles fans. You would hate to see them get it wrong at such an important position by quitting on him too early. Time will tell but it’s trending that they were right.

It's a bad look imo. But it's also funny that 20 years later so many don't associate 9 11 with Saudia Arabia despite most of the hijackers coming from there.

Purses are probably relatively flat because so much more is being pumped into the playoffs

I don't necessarily disagree they should compensate more though

People would be substantially more inclined to accept this if the funds came from just about anywhere else.

Sponsors are dropping these guys here because of the emotions linked to that country.

I gotta say it's pretty funny to see someone be so adamant against Deshaun Watson and his PR image but Saudi Arabia....they're good to go. Yikes.

Because we protected them in the 9/11 commission report! They redacted all the shit pertaining to the Saudi Royal family’s financing of Al Queda and that specific operation. Shit still pisses me off. They’re not a friend. They just have leverage with energy production and they play the game better than most of the Arab nations.

I’m just looking at it from a legal perspective. It is the players that will be in court, not the Saudis.

I thought we were in the off topic thread- during an NBA offseason- well after the vast majority of free agency and the draft- and tons of baseball talk and football talk.

I'm confused.

You do realize there is an Indians board though, right? Not every one of your Indians musings has to go on the NBA board?

Lakers = no talented players 25 or younger

Cavs = 6 talented player 25 or younger

Cavs would not trade Okoro or Agbaji for any 3 of the young guys on the Lakers. Really- pretty much none of the Laker young guys have any value.

The point? You missed it.

Pretty lame. I understand he shouldn't have said it...I definitely wouldn't and wouldn't even slip just a little on that but the context is pretty obvious.

I like how Tupac described taking ownership of that word but my god...some of the music these days use it like the word THE.

Agreed. If it's not directed at someone, why are we holding this as a fire-able (or resign worthy) offense? Private company can hire/fire as they wish though...

I kinda like Reaves, Swider and Pip jr.

I can agree they have little value in the sense that they don't make enough to bring back a difference maker.

JTA, Bryant were really good value signings.

Especially Bryant if he's healthy.

Jones is a good fit too.

But, Brown Jr, Walker and THT are hot garbage.

At some point, upside needs to translate to actually playing well.

I still cannot believe they used their mid level on Walker Jr.

He's basically THT 2.0, which isn't a compliment.

So, you would have to be insane to have any combination of Walker/Brown/Westbrook/THT on the floor at the same time.

They have to make a trade for shooting to help this roster make sense.

Outside of Swider, who can burn down the nets, LeBron is probably their best 3 PT shooter.

That's pretty gross.

All more or less true (I'll hold back from calling them hot garbage lol), but the whole point of my original post was roster age, not quality. Nothing more, nothing controversial, just an interesting change from last year's senior squad.
