Not to beat a dead horse, but just looking at PG position, I'm not sure why you feel Kyrie deserves to be above several of them.
Especially when you are limiting it to this years expectation.
I could only imagine some of those other players running the floor with James.

I'm still curious though, if James plays with any of them, who has the ball in their hands the last 6 minutes of the game?

why i think Kyrie deserves to be there

Kyrie is a great finisher at the rim- this from Sheridan Hoops.com on the USA team
"But back to the quickness. Kyrie Irving is without question the best layup creator in the entire NBA, in my opinion. He reminds me of a faster, stronger version of Rod Strickland with his ability to finish all kinds of tough layups with either hand from any angle. He has the uncanny knack of finishing everything around the hoop, with or without contact, and has all kinds of flip shots and runners to go along with very good acceleration to the basket.
Read more at Bobby Gonzalez assesses hidden Team USA strengths after 2014 training camp in Las Vegas ends

In addition to Kyrie's finishing ability around the basket- the guy is a great shooter for his age- at 22 guys like Rose, RW, Rondo, Kidd etc. could not hit a broad side of a barn from outside -

which brings me to my main point-

You cannot guard Kyrie to just shoot outside- he won the freaking 3 pt shootout at 21 years old, or to just go to the basket-or mid-range- ---he has the ability to make shots anywhere and everywhere- and can get anywhere and everywhere on the court since his handle is easily top 5 in the league

its why since he came into the league no one has as many game winners as Kyrie- you CANNOT game plan for a guy who does not have a weakness on offense- and is as clutch as he is.

he has a long way to go on defense- no doubt--

but
Kyrie is already one of the most clutch players in the league
Kyrie can finish at the basket- behind the 3 pt land or anywhere in between
Kyrie can probably handle a basketball better than anyone in the league- at the worst top 3

That is why i ranked him where I did

Chicago's defensive system allows the Bulls to win the amount of games that they do. Chicago had other quality players around Noah like Butler and Boozer. It's not like Noah was doing this all by himself.

Melo is not far behind Durant as far terms of player rankings. While Noah's stats are decent, I think Melo's average of 27.4 PPG 8.1 RPG and 3.1 APG are more impressive. Tyson Chandler missed a good chunk of the season and the Knicks roster was just a dumpster fire which is why I don't put much stock into player rankings when comparing Melo and Noah.

Point being - Melo is better than Noah. That's the debate.

If i am starting ateam from scratch i take Noah over Melo....just my opinion.. there are definitely legit arguments for Melo- he might be the best pure scorer in the entire league- and he is a great rebounder for his position

I just think Noah is a special player that is a proficient scorer in his limited looks shhoting 51%....for a big man to average over 5 assists a game is just crazy- and he is one of the top 5 rebounders in the league. ----and on top of all that he just won DPOY -

its definitely close- its why I had them so close where i ranked them- but If i wanted to win next year and were starting a team i personally would take Noah over Melo- i think i could find another great scorer- or a combination of guys that can put up those points

it would be a lot harder to find a big that is amazing at defense, rebounding, and moving the basketball- and gets his teammates to play better around him while going 100% every night

but i can totally see why people would take melo as well- its very close

and I might have RW too high-

he is my favorite non-Cav in basketball- I really think he is one of the funnest players in the league to watch- and is a great 2 way player- he can really beat up a team offensively and has the strength and quickness to wreck a team defensively too. He plays ridiculously hard as well--- and as good as Durant is- the year RW went down in the playoffs we saw how far OKC got without this guy.

and as for the Dirk thing- when i made those rankings i kept thinking who would i want for my team to win as many games as possible- and Dirk is just so consistent- his go-to shot is unguardable- a little fall away from a 7 footer that is just so smooth- he is a great leader, and can put a team on his back- his Mavs team I think won the championship with the least amount of talent then any team in a long time due mainly to how freaking good he is

him and Kobe I still think deserve top 10 respect and deserve to be up there above all but the VERY best of the younger guys

Dragic>Bledsoe...

you would know better than me...I trust your opinion

to be honest I did not see a lot of the Suns play and a lot of the Western teams that are not on national television a lot I had a very hard time ranking and could just go by what small knowledge i had -

I have liked Dragic and Bledsoe for awhile- I really wanted the Cavs to try and get Bledsoe in the draft the year LeBron left- thinking he might help him stay----obviously ittook a while for Bledsoe to become what he has today

and the same with Dragic- i remember some great games for Dragic the first time around on the Suns- its pretty cool he came back there and has blossomed- i hope they are on national TV more this year and I can watch him play more

The point is, I don't care if the Mavs and Dirk had a great series, that doesn't make him number #6.
I agree. Dirk being an unguardable franchise player who makes the playoffs almost every year without another top 50 player means he is top 13 for sure and likely top 8

if you make the playoffs in the West and the next best players on your team are Montae Ellis, 37 year old Vince Carter, and Jose Calderon you are doing something pretty damn impressive.

Parsons should have a big year.

I think this is a good time to revist this list- and do a revision.

This list will be a little different though- since- i am not going to take injuries into account- i dont want to leave off guys like George and Bosh and Kobe and Durant because it just doesnt make for as good a list. I will take into account the effects of the injuries will have on the guys though.

and again- this is only my opinion- while i am taking a break from writing my note.

1. LeBron James
2. Stephon Curry
3. Anthony Davis
4. Kevin Durant
5. Russel Westbrook
6. James Harden
7. Chris Paul
8. LaMarcus Aldridge
9. Paul George
10. Marc Gasol
11. Blake Griffen
12. Carmelo Anthony
13. Tony Parker
14. Al Horford
15. DeMarcus Cousins
16. Tim Duncan
17. Kyrie Irving
18. Klay Thompson
19. John Wall
20. Dwyane Wade
21 Kyle Lowry
22. Damian Lillard
23. Kawhi Leonard
24. Joakim Noah
25. Deandre Jordan
26. Kevin Love
27. Chris Bosh
28. Jimmy Butler
29. Kobe Bryant
30. Mike Conley
31. Andre Drummond
32. Dirk Nowitzki
33. Derek Rose

Outside of naming the top 5 players, everyone's list will be subjective.

I think it's hard to rank some of the Hawks players because they play Team ball, whereas squads like the Cavs and Thunder have 2 guys that do most of the heavy lifting and everyone else just waves towels and hands out the Gatorade.

* blatant exaggeration *

But, here goes my list....

1. Lebron

2. Durant

3. Curry

4. Davis

5. Westbrook

6. Harden

7. CP3

8. Aldridge

9. Butler

10. BG32

* Might I add, Andre Drummond and Damarcus Cousins will be firmly in the top 10 in the next year or two.

Davis is really good. But, those 2 guys will be in the conversation too.

it was bound to happen sometime- and Dirk has really shown some regression this year....his numbers are down across the board. Hes no longer a #1 it looks like- at least not during the grind of the regular season.

Mecca your list is solid - except for, in my opinion,- Butler as a top 10 player in the league. I think that is very premature.

I would have to put Anthony Davis way higher than most. Maybe I just like the brow thing. Who knows? I would put him top 10 already. Kid is just so freaking raw. Once he improves his post game, he will be top 5 no questions asked. To me, he has the best chance of over taking LeBron/Durant at the top of the list.
