We giving Kenyon a pass for being gimp?

Marvin Williams and Tyson Chandler had long, serviceable careers.

But, were picked kinda high based on their numbers.

I would say Martin was in the better version of Joe Smith category. He was a fine player, but yeah not a typical 1-1.

I thought about adding Rubio/Tyreke Evans as neither lived up to the hype of a top 5 pick but they both turned into solid role players currently so I decided to leave them off this list.

This is Exum's last chance with me.

Another injury and I'm off the train.

Although he was the last lottery pick in in 2015, I'm pretty comfortable pulling the trigger on labeling Cameron Payne a bust.

The highlight of his career is dancing with Westbrook before games.

From the 2014-2017 draft, I won't call all of these guys bust yet but they're getting close.

Stauskas
Exum
Elfird Payton
Hezonja
Mudiay

Hopefully, Exum can go the way of Shawn Livingston, who also goes into the what could have been, Brandon Roy/Jay Williams category....

My " What could have been " first team...

Walton, Grand Mama, Grant Hill, Brandon Roy, Penny Hardaway.

2nd Team..

Yao, Danny Manning, T Mac, Allan Houston, Jay Williams...

Honorable mention to Michael Redd, Ralph Sampson, Bernard King, Daugherty...

Defintely would not call Chandler a bust. He was considered a top 2-3 center for a few years there because of his defense. Also, that draft class was really weak. There were guys who posted better numbers, but of his entire class who actually ended up having a better career?

Gasol and Tony Parker for sure.

After that, Joe Johnson and Zach Randolph are certainly debateable. Gerald Wallace and Gilbert Arenas I would certainly rank below Chandler. There were a ton of top 10 busts that year including Kwame Brown, Eddie Curry, Eddie Griffin, DeSagna Diop, I could go on.

2000 was an even worse draft class. Maybe the worst of all time?

Seriously. Who are you taking over KMart? Even with hindsight I am not sure I can find an answer.

Jamal Crawford, Michael Redd and KMart were the 3 best players in the class. He made an all star game and was a pretty good pro until knee injuries sapped his athleticism.

Where did I say he wasn’t?

At the end of the day He just wants a 1-1 worthy talent. You don’t get a great franchise changing star in every draft. Which is why I’m against the system. When you lose and ping pong balls shouldn’t be deciding history.

Yes the 2000 draft class was abysmal. Probably the worst ever.

Only 5 players with VORP over 10 (in order)

Hedo Turkoglu
Mike Miller
Kenyon Martin
Redd
Crawford

Gerald Wallace is the 3rd best player in that class based on VORP, although Chandler will probably pass him this year since it's a .1 edge for Wallace.

This draft is actually pretty strong when Randolph is 11th in VORP for the class.

Every time I see a thread about horrible mismanagement, draft busts, or bad contracts I get excited because it means I get to talk about my Timberwolves........Is this a sign that I am in an abusive relationship?

VORP isn't the end all be all.

Wallace had some very good years on some bad Bobcat teams. Still, Chandler was better for longer.
