Safeco robs another home run by a few inches.

Smoak also hit one that was a couple of feet from going out.

Great moment there for Willie. His first hr since 2011.

But man do I love me some Zunino. That kid is so strong. Gonna hit 15-20 hrs along with his great glove and game calling at the catcher position for the next decade or so in a Mariner uniform.

Boy that's got to hurt. Felix didn't even look like he was grimacing though. Probably going to leave a nice bruise.

Tonight should be interesting. Not only do we get Brandon Maurer, we also get Sean Barber behind the plate.

Googled Jose Altuve's name and this popped up:

AltuveRange051914.gif

Thought I would share. He really is a fun player to watch.

And is very important to a team and for pennies on the dollar. That is why I said what I said about him. He is a gamer and you will always compete with gamers. Jones is a gamer as well and that is why he is succeeding.

If Keuchel is anything near his season average self tonight, he'll dominate the M's lineup.

We were lucky to get him once on a slightly off night earlier this month. Since then, he's had 2 starts against two of the most potent lineups in the AL (Detroit and LAA), and given up 4 total runs in 16 innings, striking out. And in between those starts, he pitched a complete game shut out against Texas.

On the other had, we are the only team to hand him an L since April 5th. So there's that.

Oh, M's aren't facing Keuchel until tomorrow now.

Houston called up Brett Oberholtzer to start in order to give extra rest to the starting rotation.

Brett Oberholtzer back in Houston Astros starting rotation

That's an odd decision. Instead of their best pitcher against our shitty pitcher, they put an unknown, likely pretty crappy guy against our crappy guy and hope they can actually get a run or two off of Kuma, while Keuchel hopefully (for the Astros) shuts us down?
I would have written tomorrow off and focused on ensuring the victory today.

I just saw tonight's line up with Willie Ballgame at SS again. Honestly, what was the point of bringing up Franklin if you're just going to have him on the bench and play WFB? Lloyd McClendon might be a great clubhouse manager but the rest of his decisions are real head scratchers.

As I stated in another thread, Franklin is the next Brandon Morrow. Completely wasting a talent by mismanaging his abilities, and then he'll eventually get shipped out to another team to haunt us for the remainder of his career. Hopefully we get value when this happens because this has regrets written all over it.

another absolute nobody pitcher with 6 Ks against the pathetic M's batters before the game is even half done.

dominant performance with just the 1 earned run given up.

Honestly, it's good that we have had such a lack-luster offensive performance today, given that Maurer :bj:

It would be a shame to waste good offensive output in a game like today's.

No, Morrow. The pitcher that we bounced back and forth between the bigs and AAA. Starter to relief to whatever we needed for an arm. Traded to Toronto and he had a career year his first year out of Seattle.

I wasn't referencing your post. If I were, I would have quoted it.

I was simply laughing about Maurer being a starting pitcher. He proved why about 30 minutes later.

As far as success outside of Seattle goes, I'm betting several of the kids on the current roster will end up being much better when they get to competent coaching and training staffs with other clubs.
