There are only 86 pitchers in the HOF. Starters and relievers.

Can’t be many AL teams with more starters they drafted/signed that are HOFers with their hat on.

Other OG AL franchises like the Red Sox, have zero. Tigers have two. White Sox have one. I think the Indians have three, like the Yankees.
The Travellin' A's probably most in the AL. Off the top of my head, Chief Albert Bender, Eddie Plank, Lefty Grove, Rollie Fingers, Catfish Hunter. They didn't sign Rube Waddell or Dennis Eskersley but their best years were with the A's.

MLB only lists Fingers.

Grove wears a Red Sox cap in Cooperstown. And Plank’s is blank. So is Hunter’s.

The A’s technically only have 5 HOFers total.

Q: What HOF second baseman played his entire career for one franchise but doesn’t wear their cap on his plaque?

A; Charlie Gehringer. (He’s looking sideways)

The whole hate thing is dumb. But MLB recognizes it as official.

Not many teams with the rep or longevity of the Yanks, either.

We are not talking about which cap is worn or what team a player is associated with. We are talking about “drafted/signed and developed”.

I've never checked this, but is Griffey's hat on backwards?

It doesn't say "and developed", it just says drafted/signed then started Opening Day. So if a guy was drafted and traded then came back and started opening day then that would count.

Ok…

What examples of that are there? I can think of a few “contenders” that didn’t actually achieve the feat, but who actually did it? I assume there were some.

Actually, I don't know :D . I'm just trying to clarify the question. I think we went off track. If I understand correctly we're looking for a team with a 10 year run of using an opening day starter that they did not draft/sign. The Yankees does seem like a good bet because they get a lot of their best starters through free agency. Could it be the Braves had a 10 year run? I know Maddux and Smoltz were drafted by other teams and probably started a lot of Opening Days. (But I think Glavine was home grown)

Over the last 10 years only. Anything that happened before 2015 is irrelevant to the question. I've said Padres, Red Sox, and Yankees are not correct guesses.

How about the Blue Jays? It seems like they've been using Berrios the last few years and he was drafted by the Twins.

Was Ohtani ever actually the opening day starter for the Halos? I will guess them.

Which 3 Yankees have hit 3 or more home runs in a game at least 3 times? One should be easy

Answer:

Oakland/Sac'to Athletics. Sonny Gray was their most recent "home grown" opening day starter.

Arizona Diamondbacks: Josh Collmenter was theirs.

That makes sense. It seems like the A's are always trading established guys for prospects that other teams drafted.

You would think, but alas, no…
