See ninersickness, there are some people you just can't have a rational discussion with as they lack any sense of reason. Go ahead and defend his positions.

Don't mind if I do (kind of).

By the way, you have a very slippery way of framing ideas that seem to go in a lot of different directions, so I'll try to be concise and on one point at a time.

1. Born Gay? I don't think someone can will his way into being physically attracted to someone. However, almost everyone agrees that choices and experiences (especially at a young age) shape the way people feel sexually. Most people agree that women are typically attracted to men who emulate qualities they wanted to see / experience with their fathers; same thing with sons and mothers. A kid's first exposure to things of a sexual nature have a heavy effect on the things to which they gravitate as adults. People aren't "born" gay, but they also don't arbitrarily decide to be attracted to the same sex. Sucking dick, however, is certainly a choice.

2. Safe Sex? As far as the shorter life discussion goes, ANYONE who consistently practices anal sex (homo or hetero) is far more likely to get an STD than if they practice vaginal sex. Penetrating into human waste with tissue as sensitive and thin as your colon is not "safe" sex; it's an extremely effective way to get all kinds of infections. A condom will help the pitcher of course (which people almost never use consistently), but the catcher is screwed (pun intended) regardless. Not to mention they stretch out their anuses to the point that they often can't have normal bowel movements (which is disgusting and gives me the jibblies just thinking about it).

3. "Studies" And Life Spans. I don't accept any "studies" as the gospel truth about anything in the medical community. I don't ignore them completely, but nobody contradicts themselves more than the medical "studies." Plus, the VAST majority of college studies are done by people with EXTREMELY heavy political slants to the left. At the same time, a lot of the private sector studies are done with a heavy conservative slant, those can be skewed as well. That said, I'm pretty certain that homosexuals live significantly shorter lives than heterosexuals. Most people tend to agree on that point. Could I be wrong about that? Sure; it's possible.

4. Anal sex is not sex? I don't know what the crap (pun intended) that's even supposed to mean.

5. Homophobia. The word homophobia means to be afraid of homosexuals. The way it's used is extremely stupid 99% of the time. I'm sure some psychologist somewhere got a federal grant and claimed to have witnessed all kinds of irrational phobias like consecotaleophobia (fear of chop sticks), or my favourite: hippopotomonstrosesquipedaliophobia (fear of long words )and I'm sure they've seen the same kind of irrational fear reaction towards homosexual in people with severe mental issues. But that's not how people use the term. It's really a stupid waste of breath; but some people with certain political leanings don't really like to talk about the merits of an argument; instead they attach the suffix "ophob" to whatever thing they like to promote.

So there you go. I'm sure that was a mouth full.

One thing that is clear....

The more homophobic you tend to be, the more likely you are to be caught playing footsies under the bathroom stall at the airport.

Its true, "I googled it" .

That was a really stupid post.

One thing is clear, however. If you're gay, you'll probably suck at professional sports (pun intended):

If you intended that to help him/agree with him you failed miserably. On the bright side I was right that you aren't full on retarded like he is.

1 - The most accepted view of sexuality is there is no consensus that defines all people. There is a mix of nature AND nurture. That means you can be 'born that way' and/or you can be brought along there through various life experiences. This is a far cry from his assertion that it is 100% fact that ALL gays are that way by choice.

2 - I'm not sure who said anal sex was safe, but that doesn't prove that all gays are going to live a shorter life like your buddy claims. Not all gay people engage in anal sex and his claims about STD's doesn't apply if they stay faithful and/or use protection like heterosexuals. It's just pure ignorance to make the claims he does and surely you can't defend that level of it can you?

3 - You don't believe in studies, unless they are agreeing with you. lol. I'm not aware of any literature that suggests that gays life 'substantially shorter lives'. In fact I've never even heard that mentioned until this discussion. You would have to do more than simply say it's true to back that up. Some viable medical organization would have to put that out there, not some study by some christian hate group or something.

5 - I'm not even sure what his rant was supposed to mean, but I'm glad you took it more lighthearted than the rest of his drivel. I would make one correction however, and that is the normally accepted definition of that word: irrational fear of, aversion to, or discrimination against. It is a broad use term. It doesn't simply mean you are afraid and run when you see one. That would just be silly. Given that this is the accepted use of the term, it does quite aptly depict several posters on this topic. Even just 'aversion to' kind of covers most of you doesn't it?

And you call me stupid. First of all there has been a lot more gay football players than just the ones to come out as openly gay. And your homophobic tendencies are really showing by your attempt to use three football players to suggest that all gays are bad at sports. Who even says such a thing? sd

No, these topics are useful for one thing and one thing only.... Identifying the bigots.

3 - You don't believe in studies, unless they are agreeing with you. lol

See this is why I can imagine people will have a hard time having a coherent conversation with you. I didn't say or even suggest anything like that. I said medical studies contradict each other all the time, so I neither accept them as proving anything, nor do I ignore them completely. And that's why I didn't cite any. I said that most people (at least in my experience) believe homosexuals live significantly shorter lives than heterosexuals. I didn't even know anyone really disputed this. I also said I could be wrong about it.

But you proceed to say, "You don't believe in studies, unless they are agreeing with you. lol." You're extremely liberal in your interpretation of what people say. It's a problem.

And just because people use the term "homophobic" that way for political purposes doesn't mean it's the real meaning of the word. If you look up the word "conversate," you'll find it in the dictionary. That doesn't mean it's a real word. Its entire etymology is derived by people who don't know the correct word: "converse." I don't care how people stupidly use the word "homophobic." It's still wrong.

So you again call me liberal despite my assertion I'm not and being told I'll take it as an insult every time you use it. And in the same breath question my posts?

I gave you the dictionary definition of the word. I understand that it doesn't sit well with you and that it appears to drive Ram (more) crazy. That doesn't mean it isn't the generally accepted use of it. In fact that's how they decide what the definition in the dictionary is. It is based on real world usage. You can argue against it all you like, but if you ask 1000 people what that means I'd hazard a guess that at least 70% would concur.

And don't think it passed me by that you failed to address anything of substance in a rebuttal again. Your only recourse was to question specific words, not overall ideas. Not a surprise as you must be finding it increasingly difficult to keep defending his extreme views.

Wiz, you're like a bull seeing red. That was the correct usage of a different kind of homo: a homonym. I said your interpretation of what people say is extremely liberal. As in very broad. Not in the political sense. Let's not let a miscommunication ruin our budding friendship. :suds:

And don't think it passed me by that you failed to address anything of substance in a rebuttal again.

It wasn't a rebuttal. I'm not trying to win a debate. I'm only trying to bring clarity to certain points. Like the part with the word "homophob." I know a lot of people (mostly liberal people - political meaning this time) use the term. I also hear people say "10 items or less" most of the time, but that doesn't mean it's accurate. You think it's a useful term; I don't. Let's leave it at that before be break off into 10,000 different directions. Cool?

can you find large specific numbers that point to gays and Hiv etc being a major problem that isn't remotely as large in the straight community even though that population severely outnumbers the other ? Yes you can.

Worldwide Heterosexual's transmit HIV virus more than homosexuals

maybe with needles but not with sex which is the primary gay way. Anal sex obviously ups the ante in contracting it. But I don't see you referencing any stats either
